- I bought the Forebrain on a lark, hoping that it might help me improve my singing. I play bluegrass guitar and sea shanty concertina, but I\'ve been embarrassed to sing in public. I took some singing lessons but still had trouble singing on (or close to) key. The Forebrain turned out to be a game changer. When I put it on, I could hear my voice clearly and perceive when I was on pitch. Soon I developed the capability to perceive my pitch without the Forebrain. Now I\'m singing and playing in public. Thank you, Forebrain!BTW, I\'m over 70 and have ADHD. I\'m beginning to use the Forebrain to read aloud to myself. The manufacturer claims this will improve my memory, conversational flow, and concentration. If it works as claimed, that would be a boon. I\'ll add to my review after I have time to evaluate.
- The following is a summary from a parent, who has hands-on engineering experience with audio-systems, and who is trying to help his child having speech issues.My dislikes about this device :1. With the supplied mic inserted (checked carefully if fully inserted and there is no looseness), the audio played back in the headphone gets garbled again and again..It is as if the somewhere in the signal-path of { (1) mic transducer --> (2) signal acquisition --> (3) signal processing (their proprietary filtering) --> (4) signal playback electronics --> (5) headphone speaker }, one or more things are getting overloaded.2. Headphones are loose fit for younger children (like 6 year old).3. Exorbitant pricing for what the product does.Alternatively, if want to know how your pronunciation, intonation, clarity sounds like without spending a tons of money, try pairing a Bluetooth bone-conduction headphones with laptop/mobile, a good audio app that can record and play and allows equalization (for boosting of the higher-frequency side (4kHz side) of the human voice frequency spectrum (approx. 300 Hz to 4kHz-ish)). In this ad-hoc approach, the drawbacks will be:A. There may be a delay (fraction of a second to a few seconds) between recording and playback, depending on what app/laptop-software you are using.B. You will have the \'inconvenience\' of pressing down the Record/Activate button (vs. automatic record and play of this device)C. It will not be this manufacturer\'s \'proprietary\' technology.4. The child\'s sppech pathologist (a doctorate herself) and the child\'s AAC device specialist associated with university research and medical center could not dig up *independent* research papers/articles for this device. The papers and articles they found are authored by people associated with the manufacturer brand. This is usually the case for (1) emerging or new technology, and (2) not-so-popular and ineffective technology.So, we parents hope that the manufacturer opens up to get their technology tested by independent researchers in the field of speech pathology.----My likes about this device :1. Lightweight design2. Nice case3. Sleek----If this device worked for your need, good for you/ your child and more power to you. We were not lucky.
