- Nice speakers and sound good. But............. I ordered white and got black. Was disappointed.
- These have been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now and I haven\'t a single complaint. I use these for general music listening, music production, and gaming and they are a wonderful jack-of-all-trades for these purposes.I\'m probably not great and describing the way audio equipment sounds, but I know I\'m very happy with these. The short version is this: accurate but pleasant. I don\'t feel like any frequency dominates over any other whatsoever. That\'s perfect for me as a hobbyist musician.I feel like these would be the perfect speakers to get if one is dabbling with music production, but maybe not fully committed. Say you got these for that reason, and then decided not to go any further. You\'ve at least now got a very versatile and pleasant set of speakers for a desk. Add a little sub and you\'ll be having a lot of fun with these.
- My audiophile friend recommended these for my home office, which he knew I wanted to update my speakers for my iMac. They look great ; I got the white ones :).One note for those that will likely have the same problem: they are automatically in \"standby mode\" which means they shut off after being inactive for like 19 minutes. The manual pdf on this listing page explained though how to easily override the standby mode. Other than that I love them.It just seemed silly to have this standby mode which doesn\'t re-engage the speakers until you go to play music or something and then it\'s only after a handful of seconds. As speakers sold as \"computer speakers\", surely they need to be on (at least for me) all the time because I need to hear alerts and other sounds from working on my computer.Like I said, ez fix
- Not going to leave a crazy review but some things to note:Volume --- not nearly as high as really any other studio monitors. Ironically they are only loud on Bluetooth (?) and you can\'t run your guitar through an amp sim and hear it in real time if you are on Bluetooth because there\'s clearly a delay. Quite annoying to be honest.Bass --- It has it. Not going to shake your house but it\'s clear and fine, imo.Clarity --- Again, fine. Most important and annoying to me entirely; the speakers go into standby mode after not picking up signal for a while. So, say you goto play a youtube video after not playing anything for a while, the speakers have to wake themselves up before they actually play the sound and it will literally be about 6-7 seconds into a video before the sound even comes on. No way to get around this and it\'s extremely annoying. They look cool though.
- Really wanted to like these speakers but they sound hyped with barely any mids and the fact that you can\'t disable the chime sound is _ridiculous_I emailed JBL support a few times about it and never received a reply.
- decent high and mid range sound but disappointing bass. The best thing about these speakers is the \"ALL\" on input selector that will play audio from all inputs, simultaneously. If you dont need that then get Edifiers, much better sound quality for the price.EDIT: while bending over to pick something up from the floor i noticed the speakers sounded much better. originally i had them placed on the desk but speaker placement is very important for these. im updating my review and bumping the rating to 4 stars because after making speak stands and placing them 60 degrees from center the sound much better and actually make decent monitors.
- First, please understand that I am NOT an audio professional and have no idea what I am talking about. I do understand that these are first and foremost monitors, and I do believe that they fulfill this purpose very well.Sound is loud, extremely clear, and I was very happy with being able to hear clearly. However, I wanted to be able to listen to music as I would on standard speakers. I have a cheap pair of Altec Lansing computer speakers that, while not being as clear, are capable of producing a bit of a punch on the lows. These JBLs have much larger and heavier drivers so I expected that I could use these for this purpose. Sadly no matter what input or sound source I used, I could not get anything out of them.Again, if you are looking for monitors that are super clear and sound good grab these. You will be happy with them. If you want monitors AND general purpose speakers for your computer I would look elsewhere.
- First of all, the sound quality is quite good for near field monitoring at/around a desktop or laptop computer. They are considerably more accurate than the commonly built-in speakers or typical speaker set geared more towards gaming, streaming, etc. Attainable, distortion-free level is more than adequate for working on tracks in a small home office (e.g., 10\' x 10\'). Bass can often be overpowering in this kind of environment but these are well balanced. Build quality is very good. Fit and finish is excellent and they sit solidly on the desk. Two complaints that hurt the day-to-day experience: (1) when the units are turned on they play a very loud sound to \"announce themselves\". This is the same volume regardless of the position of the volume control. The first time it happens it is startling and from then on, annoying. (2) There is a long pause between pressing the \"mode\" button to change inputs on the front panel and when it changes. If you miss your selection you have to go all the way back around again. Needlessly tedious.
