- This is the THIRD cell booster I\'ve tried. I could not detect any difference with the first two... in fact, the extra RF they generated seemed to make my phone worse.I wish I could give you better data, but since I recently switched carriers (Boost --> T-Mobile) the Field Test report on my iPhone doesn\'t show the same data and I can\'t figure out how to find the signal strength. This seems like a quality product, and the one thing that makes it far better than the previous two is that it has the screen that provides information of what\'s going on. According to the screen, it\'s got a good signal and is doing its thing. But it\'s so hard to get consistent data, that it\'s hard to tell. Because the Field Test isn\'t showing me signal strength (that I can tell), I can only go by the vague \"bars\" and by the SpeedTest app for measuring the data.Ordinarily, my phone spends about half its time at home on 2 bars and half at 1. Everything tends to still work, but data can be slow (but it\'s usually on wifi at home, so not a big deal). Although a low signal, dropping calls is very rare. When I first plugged in the booster with a soft-install (not mounted) I could detect no difference - and like the others before it, it almost seemed worse. The booster reported it had 2-3 bars.I then moved the outdoor antenna to the other side of the house and adjusted where it was pointing. The booster reported 5 bars! The phone, however was still at 2.I turned the cell radio off (Airplane Mode) waited a minute and turned it back on. Suddenly, I\'m getting 4 bars on my phone - which I rarely see in town and never see at home. I ran the data SpeedTest and my throughput was twice what it was before... so this looked GREAT!What I don\'t understand is that every time (tested 3 times) I turn off the radio and turn it back on, my phone bars go to 4... but after a couple of minutes, the phone bars drop back to 2 (or even 1)... it feels like the phone locked on to the booster\'s signal and then later said, nah, that\'s not a legit signal so I\'m switching bac directly to the tower... but I don\'t know if it works that way or not. But even though the phone bars are back at 2, the data SpeedTest still seems to be much better than normal, so I THINK the booster is working.I got this because we\'re moving to an area where they say the cell is even worse than here on my mountain so a booster may be a necessity. Here, the phone works just well enough that I can\'t say for sure... but of the three I\'ve tried, this is the one that gives me the most hope, and *almost* enough confidence to say that it\'s doing its job!
- This cell phone signal boosters is probably best tested in places with low signal reception, but where I am it was already decent and installing this seemed to make it a bit better, but I honestly can\'t tell fully if it\'s actually working or not
- I\'ve had AT&T cell phone service under my boyfriend\'s family plan for many years.I have been frustrated by the poor cell service MANY times, and have wanted to change carriers.Unfortunately, though, not only does my boyfriend hate change, but he does not work from home (unlike me.) He doesn\'t have to put up with the frustration stemming from the poor reception, so he has zero interest in switching carriers. We have no landline phone at home... And as luck would have it, the one room in our house that is available for use as a home office has horrible cell phone reception. People were regularly telling me they couldn\'t hear me or they \'lost me for a minute\', then I would have to repeat myself -- that, or they would hang up and one of us would have to call the other one back.So out of frustration, I phoned AT&T about the issue, and was told, \"Oh, that must be because the signal isn\'t good in that area of your house. I was like, \"Okay. And?\" (Although I wanted to say, \"Duh! Tell me something I don\'t already know.\")Her response was incredibly nonchalant. She made it sound like the poor service had nothing to do with their company. I was disappointed that she didn\'t offer to submit a formal complaint -- or even make a note of it, so they could at last consider making improvements to the towers/signal in my area. In other words, that call was a waste of time.Considering AT&T apparently has no intention of addressing the weak signal issue, I had to take the matter into my own hands.I am grateful to now have this booster so I no longer need to repeat myself to people -- nor has anyone felt the need to hang up and call me back, after thinking the call dropped. As alluded to in my headline, the reduced daily frustration/stress is invaluable!
- We have a pretty bad cell signal at our second home. Sometimes we get a two-bar signal, but 90% of the time we only get a one-bar signal. Which means our phone calls are constantly dropped and surfing the web is, for the most part, impossible. Which, as I am sure you can imagine, is exceptionally annoying.Installing this cell booster is super easy IF you don’t care what the installation looks like. If you don’t care if the coaxial cable is visible on the outside, and likely the inside of your home. If you don’t care about any of that, you can almost certainly install this thing in less than an hour. However, if you DO care, installation will probably become pretty tricky/complicated. Not impossible, just tricky/complicated. Which likely means running the coaxial cable through your attic to the best exit location. And, ideally, to an exit location on the roof with a dedicated mast you can run the cable through to a connection box on the side of the mast. And, additionally, on the other end, down through a wall to an interior coaxial cable wall plate. So yeah, it can certainly be a big job if you do everything right/ideally. But, that’s entirely up to you…Once installed, this cell signal booster gave me a consistent three-bar signal, and, occasionally, a four-bar signal. So, I am pretty happy with this signal booster. Not as happy as I’d be if I had a consistent four-bar signal, but everything works pretty well now so I can’t complain too much. This is a good booster. It works as advertised. So, I have no justifiable reason to not recommend it.If you have any questions about this Affanni cell signal booster kit, please feel free to ask, and I\'ll try my best to answer.
