Galaxy Buds True Wireless Earbuds (Wireless Charging Case included), Black – US Version

  • I received these today and I have to say that I wish they were a little louder. When I listen to music, I wanna go deaf. I\'m not kidding. That being said, the sound quality really depends upon your source. I listen to just about any type of music (no rap, no country, no jazz). So I fired up a few different genres and tried different settings with all of them. Keep in mind that the bitrate makes a huge difference.A few bits of music I listened to with these headphone:1. Judge Jules Creamfields - 2000 - Old school trance - This sounds great but it wasn\'t loud enough. This is Trance Energy and I like it loud. Sound quality for this oldy was pretty damned good, just wish it was louder.2. Hans Zimmer - Da Vinci Code - Chevaliers De Sangreal - FLAC format. The song gives me the chills but the bass was slightly washed out and the highs were absent. Also, it wasn\'t loud enough for me. DAMN! This song is a great song to test a sound system with and these earbuds were a 5/10. So unfortunate.3. Simple Minds Live - FLAC format - Just not loud enough. Could use a little help with the highs as well. The lyrics were drowned out by the music. Disappointed with this one.4. Van Halen - Runnin With the Devil - Cuz I love David Lee Roth. This is a 3.43mb MP3. Everything sounds great with this song. My only gripe... VOLUME. I wanna hear Diamond Dave SCREAM but that\'s not happening with these.5. The Church - Reptile - My only complaint... I\'m not deaf yet. Okay... The bass was a little dull but not terrible.6. The Police - Synchronicity II because it\'s bad ass. Sound is a bit washed out on this 6.07mb MP3 but it\'s okay.7. Grateful Dead - Sugaree 1977 live - It\'s about as loud as you\'d want for this song... eh... maybe not. It\'s a little washed out but what do you want from a 1977 recording? Okay so I realized for this song I was on Bass Boost. Taking off of Bass Boost and putting the head phones into Dynamic mode makes a HUGE difference (No longer washed out). Still could be louder though.8. David Bowie - Heroes - Sounds okay - The Man Who Sold the Word sounds about the same. Two of my favorites from Bowie.9. Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We are floating in Space - Never heard of Spiritualized? This is a great band to test out new headphones with. Such a complex song. The dynamic mode works for this song and sounds great. Bass boost mode isn\'t too shabby either.10. Pink Floyd - Sorrow (Pulse) - It\'s my favorite post Waters song; might even be my favorite Pink Floyd song ever. Dynamic mode is best but it needs to be louder. Guitar solo at the end of the song needs to make me deaf and it wasn\'t happening with these. :( Overall, the sound was pretty damned good for this recording. Anyway, I\'m sure this isn\'t the song you wanted me to review so let me review TIME (DSOM Studio version)... This sounds absolutely amazing but for some reason, the headphones keep cutting in and out. (I\'m writing this review real-time. I wonder if the earbuds are overheating, it\'s getting annoying?) *Update an hour later and it\'s no longer cutting in and out (Sounds amazing just wish it was louder).11. Echo & The Bunnymen - People are Strange (Doors Cover). Who does the Doors better than the Doors? Echo... This song sounds great. Only gripe? You guessed it, I\'m not deaf yet.12. ColdPlay - A Rush Of Blood To the Head - Live - This sounds absolutely phenomenal. Even the volume was loud enough. Vocals are crystal clear, music is perfect... Everything is excellent. Dynamic Mode. I had to listen to another one of these from the same live show to see if it was still perfect. Politik - Sounds is absolutely amazing. Blew me away. If every song I\'ve reviewed was as crisp and clear as these, I\'d given a 10 star review. WOW!13. Radio Head - Creep - not bad, not as loud and crisp as the Cold Play I just listen to but it\'s good. Needs to be louder.14. Darude (Trance) - Finland - Old School Trance Energy - Sound is pretty good. Just wish the highs were a little higher and crisper. Overall I\'d give this a 6/10. Tried different modes but Dynamic Mode sounds best.15. Bon Jovi - Livin\' On a Prayer - Crisp good sound. Greatest hits... Sounds great, bass could be a little better but the highs are high and the dynamic range is pretty good. Same thing for Wanted Dead or Alive. Nice sound, you won\'t be disappointed.16. U2 - The Unforgettable Fire - Sounds kinda dull so I tried another U2 song from a much newer album... Achtung Baby - Love is Blindness. Sounded much better but still, there\'s an awful lot of bass in this song and I think the highs and lows are getting lost. Who\'s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses Sounds better but still, the bass is a bit washed out.17. Sir Paul - Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey - This sounded just fine. Dynamic mode and Bass boost mode although dynamic was a bit more... dynamic (It expanded the highs a bit and got rid of the slight muffle).18. Metallica - Master of Puppets - So unsatisfying. This is the remastered version on spotify. Sounds great but this needs to be LOUD and it\'s not. Same with, Enter Sandman. Ride The Lightning - NOT LOUD ENOUGH. WTF. This needs to be much louder. Even the live version was not loud enough, however, sounded pretty damn good. \"One\" Live sounds pretty damn good.That\'s all for now. I reviewed a bunch of various genres in real time. Here\'s the thing. I find that the recording and bit rates are going to have a major factor with whether you can appreciate these or not. Since I\'m not an audiophile, I\'d have to say that you\'ll experience similar disappointment with any headphone that\'s not geared for a specific type of music.Overall, I\'d have to say these are a 3.5 out of 5. They need a little work. I\'m listening for a few hours now and I\'m at 70%. of a 95% charge. That\'s not too shabby.I had a phone call which wasn\'t a great experience. The person on the other end asked if I was on a speaker phone. I asked if I was coming in clear and they said, \"Yes but it sounds like I\'m on speaker\". The caller wasn\'t as clear as my 4yr old Plantronics earpiece either.I\'ll come back in a few days and give another review. This is my first day with them.
  • Ok, so as a consumer I try to stay very unbiased and try to not be brand loyal. So I\'ll give this review as unbiased as I can. Also, I\'ll include a summary at the end if you dont want to read my long review. Also, also, I\'ll be comparing them to airpods in many ways as they were made as a direct competitor. So I\'m going to break this down into materials and design, connectivity, sound, fit, and features.Design and Materials:Starting with design, this is subjective of course, but I personally really like how the buds look. Comparing them to the airpods, I think that the more subtle design paired with more colors is really appealing and will draw in more people. That said, airpods have become sort of a meme and their design has become very mainstream. The case is also well designed. It looks better than the airpod floss case, in my opinion, but it isn\'t as satisfying as the airpod case. That said it is easy to open and looks clean, especially the matte black. Now onto the build quality. The earbuds themselves are very light, but this is okay as you want to basically forget they are in your ear. That said, the buds dont feel cheap. The materials are very nice and they feel good in hand, and head. The case is a similar story. Light but substantial enough that it feels well made. Like I said, I also love the matte finish on the case.Connectivity:So much like the airpods, all you have to do, on Samsung Phones, is open the case and after a moment the buds pop up and boom, your connected. This remains the same after you first connect, just open the case and by the time their in your ears, you\'re connected. The range is okay. If you go more than about 15 feet, give or take, they start to break out. But if you have your phone on you, you\'re good. I also havent really had any stuttering or anything like that, just clear audio if you\'re in range.Sound:So this is possibly the most important category. Now I dont pretend to be an audiophile but I have listened and own a fair number of headphones. So with a package this small, I kept my expectations low. But when I got the buds, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the sound. Songs like Hotel California are really well balanced. Vocals are really clear and highs are also clear and clean. However, where the buds lack heavily is in bass. Rockstar sounds alright but if you need crazy bass, fully wireless earbuds are not for you. I mean, the driver is really small so you cant really expect earth shattering bass. But I know kany people love their bass, as i do too, and you may miss it with these. However, that isn\'t what these are for. The galaxy buds are made to be convenient, small earbuds, and as a result, audio suffers. That said, I think the audio will be very good for most people, as long as you can live without some bass. Again vocals are great and highs are clear and crisp.Fit:So possibly the best feature that the buds have that the airpods dont is the fit. This is because you get three different wing tips and ear tips in the box. This means that most people will be able to find a combination that fits them well and comfortably. Contrast that with the airpods which dont come with anything and the either fit or they dont. Another important difference between these and airpods in the in ear design. This means you get very good sound isolation which you will either like or not like. However, Samsung has included an ambient sound feature which works pretty well. The fit overall is superb, though. Once you get the right ear tips, you honestly forget that they are in your ear. They are also very good for working out because of how small they are and how well they fit, I mean, they wont come out of your ear, they go in your ear very well. Again, this is a mixes bag with airpods as if they dont fit you, they can easily fall out.Features:Wrapping up this review is features, and there are quite a few. So starting with controls, you have a touch capacitive panel on each earbud. The controls work well but I\'m not a huge fan of the implementation. A single press only play pauses, a double press only skips, etc. The only customization you have is with the long hold. You can either have that trigger a voice assistant, volume or toggle ambient noise. I wish you could go deeper into controls and, for example, have play pause on the right with a single press, skip on the left with a single press, volume up and down by holding down on left and right, and ambient noise as a double tap. And who knows, software may change and make this possible. Another thing I dont really like is that, unlike the airpods, you cant take one bud out to pause the music and put it back in to resume it. Again, this could change with software. Speaking of software, the galaxy wearables app has a decent amount of customization, better than apple at least, and I hope to see Samsung continue to improve it. One thing that you can use with the app is the ambient noise toggle. I actually really like this feature and it works pretty well. The microphones do a pretty good job of amplifying voices and it works at a good distance too. The fact that they can charge wirelessly is also a big plus, especially for Galaxy S10 users with the reverse wireless charging. Other small features are USB-C, decent battery life, good quick charging (1.5 hours from 15 minutes of charging) and the overall convenience and size of the package. So overall, the Galaxy Buds are made very well and look quite nice too. The pairing process is very solid, especially on Samsung and the range is good for mose people. The sound quality is pretty standard for this price range and lacks on bass but has clear mids and vocals as well as crisp clean highs. The customizability of the fit is amazing and means that the buds will fit most people. Finally, the buds\' controls could be better but they have plenty of other great features like wireless charging. Overall, a very solid package and for $130, what are you waiting for?
  • These are my go to anytime I listen to music. I\'ve had them for over 3 years and still work as great as when I bought them. I work at an animal shelter and they block out almost everything. Fast charge time, last a long while and great noise cancelation. Hard plastic earbuds don\'t work for me so these sit comfortably. ONLY ISSUE I HAVE IS if you drop the case with the buds in them, they fall out. Little damage to the buds and case, but I\'ve almost lost the buds a few times.
  • I love these earbuds. They have lasted me many years and only recently have I needed to seek a replacement pair. The reason for doing so is the oversized and clunky recharging case that was sitting in my pocket when I had a minor crash while plowing snow. Having been flung forward in my seat and smashing into the steering wheel with my knees crashing into either side of the console hurt like he\'ll. The case that was sitting in my pocket saved me then and there, taking the entirety of the blow from the steering wheel which destroyed the case in the process. If it hadn\'t been in my pocket, the impact would\'ve been directly to my more sensitive areas and I believe without a doubt I would\'ve been hospitalized had the case not given its life to protect my family jewels. Will be purchasing another pair for certain.
