Sony ICFCL75IP 30-Pin iPhone/iPod Clock Radio Speaker Dock with 7-Inch LCD Screen (Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)
- I love this clock. It is the second one I have owned and until or unless I update my iPod, I will continue to own and use this one. It is perfect and exactly as advertised. It does all of the things the hype says it will do. I have never had any problem with any of the myriad of functions. The first one was sent to me by my daughter as a Christmas or Birthday gift. She and my granddaughter made a lot of wake-up messages which I used daily. She and I loaded tons of photos for the ongoing slide show. The time and photos have many different choices of mode so you see the time the way you like to see it displayed. The iPod charger if for the original. It played what I programmed it for perfectly. The sound was perfectly nice and very clear for the iPod and the radio, too. I used the nature sounds to go to sleep and the recorded fun alarms to wake up. Perfect sound. Not my granddaughter on steroids or helium, my granddaughter. It also uses every type of memory card I, my daughter and my sisters own. Everyone had a photo to add to the array once they saw it. The photo display is perfect, very clear with gloriously focused colors. Just so you know, this is the second because the first was lost while being transported from one coast to the other. Except for that one occasion, when I didn\'t pack it in the bags I took with me, it traveled well wherever I took it. And, I took it every where I would be working for any period longer than a month. My sincerest suggestion it that you read the little instruction manual BEFORE you do anything. This simple clock does a million things. If you don\'t want the problems from the other review, knowing what you are doing just might help.
- I bought this to replace an Old Alarm Clock that I had for over 15 Years which was not Alarming when set. First, when seeing all the negative reviews here, I was a bit skeptical. But doing more research this was the only device of it\'s kind it this current price range. I have had no major problems with this Device at all. I Believe that most people here with problems have not yet upgraded to the new firmware version 1.07.Pros: Wonderful Bright 7\" screen. Ability to use Pictures as a background to your clock. Dual Alarms Battery backup Will work and keep perfect Time even on 120v / 50hz Electricity! I am in Jamaica, and that is the electricity we have, and most electrical clocks lose time if not built well to run also on 50hz). I am so glad I found this one!Cons: Picture Browser is a bit slow. (But Hey, this is an Alarm Clock first and foremost)A few features in the software could be improved, but nothing to gripe about. This is one of the best alarm clocks money can buy, I am very pleased!UPDATE: I enjoy this little device more and more! A lot of people complain about the brightness of the display, but The brightness is great for me, in the day it is perfect! To Dim the Light just press the snooze bar, it dims more each time you press it. On the third press it puts the display in sleep mode where you can just barely see it, Perfect where you don\'t want a blaring light in your face, but still need to see the time at night.Just make sure you have updated to the latest firmware, and everything will be OK. Highly Recommended!
- This is my second ICFCL75IP clock radio. I got the first one when I had an iPhone and wanted a cradle to charge my phone at night. It turned that I loved this clock/radio and continued to use it even after I switched to an android phone. Maybe it didn\'t do every single thing I would have wanted but I discovered there is no other clock/radio that came close to doing the things this one did. I didn\'t realize how attached I gotten to its features until my cat chewed through its power cable and the clock radio died. I repaired the power cord but it just wasn\'t going to work again. I was surprised when I found that Sony had discontinued making this clock/radio but happy when I found out I could still buy one. On this one, I\'ve wrapped the power cord in tubing and adjusted my night stand so my cat can\'t reach the power cord and, if she can, she can\'t chew through the tubing. So, what do I like about this clock/radio (with updated firmware)? That the display is so bright and clear and that I can load my own music, photos and music to it. I can configure its sleep mode to dim the display/stop the music when I want it to turn off. I can adjust the alarm mode to play whatever mp3 file I want to wake up to. Wish I could charge my android phone with it too (kitty chews my phone charging cables too) but I\'m pleased just to be able to replace my damaged clock/radio. Why doesn\'t any other company try to fill an obvious niche that Sony apparently gave up on?
- I bought this on clearance with, frankly, not too high hopes. It replaced an old Sony Dream Machine CD/FM clock radio alarm from the early 1990s, so it was definitely an upgrade. I read the reviews. The problems appeared to stem with older firmware, thankfully recent Sony firmware (version 1.10, dated 9/2011) available from their website resolved many of the issues folks had complained about.I like the clock and alarm, the fact that the screen lights up full brightness when the alarm goes off only helps me get out of bed. I also like the night mode, which shuts off the LCD backlight. In a dark room (or at 2AM when you wake up wondering what time it is) you can still read the screen enough to view the time. Very clever. The unit also has a USB port and SD slot, making it decently handy to put pics on. I don\'t use music, videos, or iPod/iPhone integration - it\'s an alarm clock that can pull double-duty as a digital picture frame in a pinch. One thing I don\'t like is this - I wish there were a setting for \"full brightness at XX time each day\" so I don\'t have to re-enable the backlight each morning, but it\'s easy enough - just tap the snooze bar.All in all I like it. I hope it holds out. It looks nice and works well for what I need it to do - be an alarm clock.
