Sony LSPX-S2 Glass Sound Speaker with NFC and Bluetooth, 360 Degrees All Directional Speaker Silver
- The media could not be loaded. I have to say, Sony did really bad work to this fantastic Bluetooth speaker series. S1 and S2 is perfect, even though S2 is a little bit degrade from S1, S2 is still good! However, S3 degrade the features and performance into the hell. I know the design language of this speaker’s series is candlestick and lamp. S1 and S2 did really good! But, what S3 looks like? A bong? Come on, Sony, you are not a weed dealer, right?Anyway, S2 is a fantastic Bluetooth Speaker. Worth the price. And Sony, please back to your previous design language, don’t screw up this fantastic series, please.
- The sound quality is very good. I don\'t know what all these people are whining about. It\'s very nice, beautiful object.
- Excellent
- The media could not be loaded. Sony has done a lot of work making sure this speaker isn\'t just a wireless speaker with a dimmable LED. The glass tube plays a role in the speaker\'s sound, combining form and function. The light on this speaker creates a candle-like atmosphere. Through physics magic, the glass tube will make the LED look like it has a flame with a wide base and narrow tip, but you have to look at it from the correct angle: if your eyepoint is too low you won\'t see a flame at all, if your eyepoint is too high the \"flame\" will fill the tube and look more like a beam. Even with this glass trick it still doesn\'t really look like a flame, the style is distinctly its own. At max brightness, the light is still pretty dim and only provides basic illumination. The glass isn\'t really glass, but it is as fragile as glass - the included manual warns to only handle the speaker by the base. It is best to keep the packaging materials with you in case you need to ship it when moving or for returns/RMAs.This speaker is portable in the sense that it can be moved to any spot in the house with very little setup, and used until the battery depletes. This is good if you want to use it in say the middle of a dinner table but don\'t want to run a power cable. If you want to use this in another house, you should carefully pack it in the original packaging before transporting. It is not at all suitable for use on the go.I thought the sound quality was good playing some relaxing jazz, but there are limitations to the audio being provided by a single small speaker. If you want multi channel sound you will need a second speaker and to use Sony\'s app. Lows are not this speaker\'s strong suite, but it will still put up a fight and make some vibrations. The glass tube enhances the audio and spreads it in all directions evenly so it does sound better than if you just had a regular speaker pointing upwards. The benefit of this \"360° sound\" is that in any sort of gathering, everyone can receive an equal volume of music unlike with a typical speaker where people behind the speaker will not get as much as people in front. You will get the best quality by connecting a 3.5mm audio cord or using wifi audio. To use wifi you will need the Sony Music Center app. You will need to use the app to connect the speaker to wifi, the app is much easier to use than the buttons on the speaker. A downside of the app is it only offers wifi streaming of google play music (discontinued) and spotify, as of dec 20,2020. You can add another app (eg. youtube music) in the settings, but when you go to play the added app it automatically switches to bluetooth. In terms of battery life, it is sufficient to last the length of most events where you might use a candle eg. dinner or party, but it is pretty underwhelming. The battery is rated at 8 hours, but seems to drain a bit faster with the light on and playing music, so if you want longer playtimes you will need to keep it charged. Charging happens via Micro-USB? Micro usb isn\'t exactly obscure but it is on its way out, most new electronics use USB-C because it is more durable and symmetrical, making it much easier to plug in.For solo use, you can put this in say the center of a room and go about your day, knowing you\'ll get an equal amount of music no matter where you stand or sit.In summary, this speaker obviously is not the best value in terms of sound quality, and it has some limitations in functionality. This speaker is a classy decorative piece that also provides candle-like lighting and sound to everyone around it. If that sounds good to you, then this speaker is for you.
- I picked this up because I was simply curious, \"What is a Glass Speaker?\" I mean, it\'s made by SONY, so I knew it would be a quality product. However, the price tag is really out there. During the two weeks that I\'ve owned this, I\'ve researched it quite a bit, and I really had my Ah-Ha moment during a 6-hour blackout on Christmas Night when I used this in it\'s \"Flickering LIght Mode\" instead of a flashlight. The first thing you need to realize is that this product comes from Japan, and the US Market is not the target. This device is designed with simplicity and flow in mind. This is meant to replicate an idealized oil lamp without a risk of fire. The second thing you need to realize is that this is a very niche, luxery item. The sound is quite good (though a bit bright due to the design), but this devices is not really about the sound. This is about the esthetic (which will be lost on about 85% of the folks), and many folks outside of the target audience will see this as a \"Strange Light with a speaker with a sound quality that can be beat by most $80-125 Ultimate Ears, Bose, and JBL Speakers. So, who is the audience? Affluent consumers who are into Glamping (Glamorous Livestyle Camping) and/or consumers with an Affinity for the Asian Culture who want a simple device to improve the flow of their living environment through simplicity -- with a hint of an old-world lifestyle. If I had to guess, this is probably not you. And, if you are not sure that this is you.... then it probably isn\'t you. With that said, let\'s talk about the speaker and sound quality. The dynamic range on this Glass Sound Speaker is quite well and it excels at instrumental music -- especially with strings, bells, chimes, and orchestrial type sound. Pop music is quite good, and the bass is decent... but it\'s so balanced that many people will probably find it subdued and lacking. This is not a sound speaker for hip-hop, dub-step or bass heavy music. (If that\'s your goal, get a pair of UE Mega Boom\'s or JBL Xtreme 3\'s for the same price and pair them). If you like classical and new age music, spoken word, podcasts, audiobooks, oldies, and instrumental music.... candlelight.... and have the discretionary income where purchasing this will not cause a hardship.... this device may be for you. It\'s great for a romantic blackout, and there are controls to brighten and dim the device. You can make it flicker by holding the power button for 2 seconds (though, I can never get the timing right and I often end up shutting it off several times before I manage to hit the sweet spot between triggering the effect and turning the speaker off for real). I\'m not posting any pictures because they don\'t look very interesting, and it\'s hard to capture the ambiance of this speaker flicking in a dark room like an oil lamp at your grandmother\'s house when you were a child (if you are now in your 60\'s).I\'ll just leave this recommendation: If you are unsure, the price of this is a stretch for you, or you are looking for an awesome bass pumping speaker... this is not for you. If you can easily afford this, like balanced music, and want an LED simulated oil lamp to capture a feeling (or spark a memory), this is probably for you!
