Sony MDRXB800 Extra Bass Over The Head 50mm Driver Headphone, Black
- idk why there\'s a category for noise cancellation while doing this review as obviously this doesn\'t have that feature so yeah, don\'t count on this for that feature. sound quality is above okay. the comfort is a bit bad, after wearing it for 3 to 4 hours it hurts my ears. if you\'re like me who uses this mostly for PC then it\'s not gonna be too comfortable for long hours of usage. the advertise extra bass is what this headphone truly delivers but you need an actual headphone amplifier or similar device to actually experience it. plugging it directly to your phone or pc or whatever gadget won\'t have sufficient power to deliver that monstrous bass. catJAM
- Sound signiture is pretty terrible without eq. The mids and trebel sound like complete trash out of the boxGive them a burn in time they sound much better now that ive had them 2 months. They seem pretty durable in 2 months ive dropped them like twice and nearly ripped them off my head with the cord a few times no damage i sleep in them somtimes and they are fine so seeming durable so far. I dont have an amp but i think these would probably benifet from one, the bass does sound limited at times. They are definitely very comfortable headphones. padding doesn\'t come off and isnt replaceable. They look nice
- PROS: These are simply the best bass-focused headphones I\'ve tried, and the price makes them even more attractive. The build quality is as good as some of the $200-$300 headphones I own, but not as good as the elite market gets. The general comfort is excellent. The headband (which is padded despite the way the photo looks) and articulating ear pieces really make for a flexible-but-comfortable fit, and they don\'t slide around. The sound is best described as \"full bodied\". After burn-in, they can be surprisingly responsive to a wide range if you play with EQ. I find them to be a bit more realistic with bass, rather than artificially \"boomy\", like some others. This is likely due to the 50mm driver having a naturally deeper response than typical 30-40mm drivers. I listen to heavy bass music and don\'t hear distortion or clipping with these headphones, even when amplified with my NU or FIOS portable amps. Finally, these are the only headphones I travel with anymore. I call them the \"origami\" headphones, because they swivel, fold and articulate down to a very compact form, despite their full-size design.CONS: On the questionable side is their choice to go with non-removable/replaceable cord. It\'s about 4 feet long, and that\'s all you\'re ever getting with these. In my case that limits my use of them to scenarios where I\'m using my phone as the source. I don\'t sit close enough to my PCs or home audio to use them without dragging extensions. Secondarily, the design of the ear pads is going to be hit or miss for people. It\'s a hybrid design... the ear pads, themselves, are \"on-ear\", but they are so \"pillowy\" that your ears sink through them inside the cups, just like circumaural designs. However, the ear cups themselves are smaller than other full sized headphones, so if your ears are large, they will press against the plastic frame and it will hurt. Additionally, this design is not friendly for people who wear glasses, unless the eyeglass temples and earpieces are very thin. And finally, this design can trap heat. An hour of wear and your ears will sweat, which causes a waxy grime to build-up on the ear pads. For me these would be perfect bass-head headphones if they had the same ear cup/pad design as the Sony MDR-1R. Those are so comfortable, you can forget you are wearing them.
- What can I say.... I LOVE THESE! Ever since my old headphones broke my life felt imcomplete listening to music through the small size earbuds. I had to get my hands on another pair of good headphones but where to begin? I tried out a few before I ended buying these. I bought the Sony MDR-V55 Dj Style to see how well they were going to be, turns out they were very decent but the amount of pressure on your head (atleast on my head) ruined it for me. Then I got me a pair of RZA headphones and for the price I paid those were such a letdown. Then I saw these here on amazon and did some research on them before buying them. I\'m glad I made the choice to buy these, now my life feels whole again. So on to the good and the bad.....The goods:They are very comfortable on my ears and do not cause soreness even after an eight hour shift.(I wear them every day at work five days a week.)Sound quality is very good for this price range, the bass do very much deliver on these babies. Hip pop, rap and EDM never sound so great. The headphones can be laid down flat or fold for carrying( which I thought was cool )The bads:When looking at the pictures it looks like some of the parts are made with metal ( don\'t fool yourself ) but they\'re not except for the only metal piece thats on the top of the headphone. The bass do live up to the XB status and because of that any song that didn\'t have bass in them before just got bass added to them whether you like it or not. (All my rock songs sound like they only have bass guitars playing)After wearing them for almost a month now the headphones feel a little flimsy when not on my head.So there you have it folks! I hope this helps some of you guys out.
