Tripp Lite 3-Port USB-C to USB-A Portable Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Port (GbE), RJ45, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C to Type-A, Aluminum (U460-003-3A1G)
- This device has 3 USB A ports and one ethernet port. Really had trouble making the hub work. Every time I plugged something in to the hub, I would get an error message that the device is not supported or recognized. If I ignored the messages, and just decided to work with the drive, it would work okay.I was very surprised that the hub only came with USB-A. I really wish it had an SD card slot. With the new laptops only being supplied with a USB-C, many of the devices I want to use won\'t work. So adding a hub with the inputs I need would be nice.Summary:(1) USB 3.1 hub adds USB-A and Gigabit Ethernet ports to the USB-C(2) Three port USB hub ports accept flash drives, mice, keyboards, printers and other USB peripherals(3) USB-A ports provide up to 1.5A each for charging devices.(4) Supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps(5) Hub includes a RJ45 port that supports true 10/100/1000 Mbps(6) SLIM ALUMINUM HOUSING(7) Plug-and-play operation with no software or drivers required(8) Reversible USB-C plug connects in either direction
- First of all, this is a decent product. I\'ve used it to run multiple USB devices on my computer, and have had no problems. I am glad that there is a USB-C jack, since most of my peripherals are USB-C, and I had no problems with that interface.I honestly never really used the ethernet jack, which may be why I think the product is overpriced. I\'ve seen other USB hubs that were much more reasonably priced that worked just as well for me. I feel bad about grading it down due to price when I got it free from Amazon Vine, but this isn\'t something I feel good about recommending at almost $50.
- It worked fine when I got it. I used it on my laptop, which only has 2 USB ports. After a month and a half, it just stopped working. It is a little flimsy and cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.
- This device is very useful for the newer tablets and thin Ultrabooks which come with a limited number of USB A ports. Often, they do not have the ethernet port also. This device has 3 USB A ports and one ethernet port. I found that it works consistently if your USB device is a powered device. For example, I could not get my SpeechMike microphone to work through this USB port. And as priced now, at $47.48, it is a rather expensive device.
- Exactly as advertised. Compact and durable. I recommend for anyone needing to access USB devices on a Thunderbolt Mac. The Ethernet is a bonus where available and the Wi-Fi is iffy.
- I have my iPad plugged into a power source. I plug in the device and the iPad does not recognize it and the device does not light.Plugging in other devices shows no power is getting through. I plugged it into to a Dulla Power Bank and it did not light up, no power getting through to devices plugged in to recharge.
- This is a nice USB-C Dongle (albeit a bit over priced). I tested this adapter with Windows and macOS. Both worked as expected. No addition drivers required.Pros--------Works with Windows and macOS.PXE Booting with this adapter is supported on Dell XPS 13 laptops (in the right hand USB-C port).May be supported on additional models (Lenovo and HP) but I haven\'t had time to test.Nice if you have an aluminum (or aluminum colored laptop).Cons--------A bit expensive. There are cheaper options out there.A little large.
- Even if you do a custom built computer, it seems as if you never have enough USB ports. Tripp-Lites\'s USB 3.1 Gen Gigabit Ethernet adapter with 3 USB ports can be a great solution for desktops and laptops. The smaller USB may fit on most newer computers. Ironically, however, I bought a brand new Dell laptop that didn\'t have the smaller USB port on it. As a result, I did need to purchase an adapter to get it to work. It does do what it is supposed to do. It\'s small and portable enough to slip into your computer case or backpack to take with you when you\'re on the go.
