• Sony\'s SRS XB-31: The only speaker you need more than three of because it is just that good.I have been looking at Bluetooth speakers for at least 4 years, comparing sound quality, looking for the BEST sounding speakers out there and I finally found the one that beats them ALL. Including the ever popular UE Mega Boom, Pill, JBL, and Bose (among many, many others). When I think I find the winner, I go back and compare it to all of the runners up, and listen again and again, over a period of months, until I am convinced I am not imagining things or making a decision on a whim. Even beats its big brother the XB-41.The XB-31 sounds almost perfectly clean and natural, with good, not just relatively good, sound from high to low. Most small speakers really struggle with bass, and many compensate with a fake, hollow sounding counterfeit. At the same time, tenor tends to be ignored. Not so in the XB-31. I have listened to every genre of music, from epic orchestral to gangster rap, from smooth jazz to punk rock, from doo-wop to alternative, and they all sound amazing. I have watched movies using these speakers, and they are better than most people\'s sound bars. No, they are not the loudest speakers you can buy, nor hit you with bass as hard as a few others, but for sound quality, these win hands down.And they are not quiet either. I have had many surprised people comment on just how loud they are, and say they want to buy some themselves.Beyond sound quality, there is build quality. I have not had an issue with any of mine. I typically bring them out to the pool with me, where little kids have picked them up and dunked them in the water WHILE asking if they are waterproof. True story. And yes, they are waterproof. I have demonstrated many times how they can be fully submerged, float back to the surface, and the speakers shake off the water, tiny droplets flying from the mesh grill into the air as they pulse back to life (no they don\'t play under water, I tried).I have had my silver/white speakers for a year now, had them out in all kinds of weather, from below freezing in the snow to over 100 degrees on concrete, and not had an issue. I have taken them to the beach and not had an issue with sand getting stuck in them. I have gotten them dirty and been able to wash them clean. They still work and look like new.The LEDS never really impressed me, that is until I was on a beach with a bonfire, my speakers in an outward facing circle around it, and a group of us dancing around them. The LEDS really lit up the otherwise dark beach, and really made it feel like a party. Although not perfect, the lights do manage to flash in time with the music noticeably well. The speakers were sufficiently loud; no, not club loud, but enough to sing along with and yell over, and louder than surfable waves crashing 30 yards away.I have not abused them (why would I?), but they have worked nearly flawlessly. The one issue I have had is, on rare occasion, if one speaker gets disconnected from the group and then reconnects, it doesn\'t always immediately sync perfectly with the other speakers. When this de-sync happens, it usually takes the group a try or two, each resulting in a second or two of silence to sync back up perfectly, but on one occasion, it did not sync back up until I power-cycled the offending speaker (turned it off and on again). Other than that, no issues.I usually play music at 50-75% power, and 12 hours of playing gets me to 50% battery life. I can easily watch a full movie on full power, and typically only charge the speakers once a week or less.Bluetooth range is 50-60 feet before it starts breaking up, and more than 100 feet before it is completely disconnected.My only disappointment is that, though two speakers can be synced to play in stereo (right and left sound), more speakers cannot be. I usually forgo stereo for an immersive circle of quality sound with me happily in the middle. Please, Sony, if you read this, please allow multiple speakers to be synced in stereo (or even better, 7 channel surround!) It would only take a software patch.Should you buy one? Yes. Heck, buy two or three. I am currently hunting stores for eight more. If I had the money, I would buy 100 just to max WPC out. Best Bluetooth speaker out there.
• I bought this after visiting a frys electronics and saw the display version. They lights matched rather well in the store and don’t seem to match the music that I like. It’s a better light show to club or pop music. Anything slower or more mellow you can the lights no longer match. It does sound decent for the size of it but I wouldn’t push it past 80 percent. There is a larger version for a more volume. Or you can get another one and pair up to 10, supposedly. I have not done this or seen it done.
• Water proof and loud. Can connect multiple phones. Only issue is volume cuts to low when its on low battery
• Just arrived and I love it. In my opinion it sounds better than the jbl charge 3. The lights are a nice feature. Haven’t had it long enough to comment on the batter life but the sound is amazing for a speaker this size, the live sound my fav
• The sound this thing puts out is pretty amazing for the size. Great bass and the lights are pretty cool when you have them going. The mids can get a little muddy if you sit too close to the speaker. Seems to work best sitting on top of our book shelf about 8 feet away.
• Best Bluetooth speaker in the market and the lights absolutely set the mood. I bought 2 because my first was stolen from the airport security. I recommend everyone purchase one and I look forward to the next model upgrade.
• Amazing speaker so far. The lights, the appeal of the speaker, and most importantly the sound and base are incredible. I’ll be buying a second very soon to link up with my first speaker for even better surround sound.
