Sony SRS-XB32 Portable Bluetooth Speaker: Compact Wireless Party Speaker with Multicolor Lights and Flashing Strobe - Loud Audio for Phone Calls -Waterproof and Shockproof Bluetooth Speakers - Blue
- I did a fair amount of research before buying this speaker. I was excited to get it. I have had it for 2 days and am so so pleased. I will keep it as it is ok. I sort of wish I had gotten the XB41 bigger version. While the sound is good when you have it right in front of you and indoors in a small room, out side is a different story. I have a very large spa / pool called a swim spa. It is 8 1/2 feet x 15 feet. I put this speaker on the deck next to one end and the volume was at 100%. Standing in my pool about 8 feet away and the sound was minimal. I was hoping that it would blast my back yard. It was dismal.I decided to buy another one (will be here next week) and use the WPC Wireless Party Chain feature to connect 2 speakers. I am thinking of putting one on each end of my pool. I really hope this will help the sound. Maybe I won\'t have to have them up at 100% volume. Should be cool to hear the exact same sound from both ends of my pool. Right now, even with the low volume outside, you can easily tell where it is coming from.Another issue I have noticed is battery life. My research said the Sony XB32 had a 24 hour battery life but with lights and base would be around 16 hours. I turned the light off as I did not need them in the daylight but do not know how to turn the base off. Besides I wanted the base. I played it for about 3 hours today. Pressed the battery level button and it said \"battery50%\". After only 3 hours.??? This evening I was watching some YouTube reviews and one guy said to expect 6 hours from full charge to 20% battery level. This is a bit of a let down.I can update this review after more time with my new speaker and once I get the new one next week. Thanks for reading.UPDATE 2 weeks later. I got my second XB32. Together they sound much better. BUT is a pain to pair. Here is what I have figured out. You have to pair the second speaker via Blue tooth to your phone. ok. Next, the WPC button does nothing. Seems it is for adding many (party chain) speakers. From looking at YouTube, seems I have to press the ADD button on the speaker connected. then the ADD button on the second speaker. The first one that was connected disconnects and the other speaker now connects. It typically takes me 3 and 4 tries to get both speakers to work. The whole thing is odd. As I go out by the pool with my wife, you can lose the moment as I play with the blue tooth settings and speakers on and off for 15 minutes each tie.Big issue today. I had both speakers playing loud by my pool. the guy next door was turning his radio up too to compete with me. After 45 minutes my speakers lost their volume. It was half or 1/4 the max level. it was so sad. my battery level was 70%. They were full 100% when I started and after 1 hour, were down to 70% and the max volume was very low. I had both speakers at max level at 2 feet in front of me and the sound was low at best. The only thing I can think was the suu was hot and the speakers got hot. Temp today was 95degrees and after 45 minutes in the sun around my pool they crapped out. These are supposed to be out door speakers you can take to the pool or beach. I guess not, (sad face). After going inside and an hour later I tested the speakers and the max volume was back. Just poor timing. I wanted to blast the guy next door. I am going to re-peat this to see if the heat really does kill the volume. I still have 2 weeks left to return them.Update: from my research, appears you cannot operate these speakers above 95 degrees or the volume cuts way down. After many attempts to join 2 speakers and all the other issues, I decided to return them. They are rated at 24 hours of battery life. But you must turn the lights off, tuen the Bass off, play the volume at 25 to 50% max What the heck. I brought these to hear loud base and see pretty party lights. Plus at 50% battery level it keeps saying \"Charge Me\", \"Charge Me\", \"Charge Me\". So 1 to 2 hours of battery life is crazy. With one speaker, it might be ok but with 2 speakers, they only connect 25% of the time. I have to spend 15 to 20 minutes messing with them. By then the mood is gone and so is my wife. I am left on the patio by myself and my dumb speakers.I get one speaker connected, As I press the ADD button for the 2nd speaker, the 1st speaker quits and then only the 1st speaker works.. and on and on, you get the picture. Or I hear music very low on one speak, the Sony music center app says both speakers are not connected while I know at least one is !!!I am going to get the GTXB60. that one speak is the same price as 2 XB32\'s and has a power cord and a battery and does not say Charge Me over and over.
- Some people may purchase this because of the multi-colored lights and strobes that are based on the music being played, but I report on two things: sound quality and construction quality. And I can only say that both are GREAT in this very reasonably-priced speaker. The bass that pours out of this thing defies anything you would expect for something its size, and the overall sound quality for all types of music I have found to be just great. In fact, so good that I am completely surprised. I\'m tempted to tear it apart to see how they re doing it, but I would not want to ruin it, so I\'ll have to leave it to my imagination! It looks, terrific, too, with different colors available, and a light-line that runs all around the front of the unit putting out all shades of color as the sound plays, plus two sparkling strobes behind the front grille cloth. It looks really cool, but if the lights are too much, or gives you a headache, they are easily turned off with a button on the back of the unit.Sony did a great job on this line of speakers. Even the smaller version of this speaker, which I also have and use, sounds absolutely terrific. The quality is there, too. This speaker feels so nice in the hand. It seems like something you will want to both take care of and keep for a long time. It\'s water-resistant, too, which is a nice touch in case you need to use it near a pool or perhaps in a bathroom. I stumbled upon this Sony line of Bluetooth speakers almost by accident: I\'ve been using the JBL Charge3 and have been very happy with it, another rugged, well-built, and well sounding speaker. But this Sony model may just barely edge it out. I\'ll try to do some additional A-B testing and report back, but really you can\'t go wrong with either. But right at this moment, this Sony is the unit of choice in this price range. Five stars!
- First and foremost, this is a Sony, need I say more? The only other brand that comes close is Bose. That costs alot of moolah! So, trust me, this is the best for the money! Sound (big bass) light effects great and programmable to your own taste or no lights at all, also, custom settings for sound. As soon as I got it out of the box, the weight impressed me. Anyone who knows speakers knows that weight does make a difference ( magnets). I do love this speaker, I may even go back for seconds. I know that it costs more than other inferior speakers, but, if you care about the sound, this is it. As I know from past experiences, you get what you pay for! Also, there are 3 sound modes, plus ( through the music app) there is a custom sound with an equalizer, program exactly how much bass, midrange and treble. I have used it every time and I just love everything about this speaker. I am very hard to please, this speaker does impress me and will probably impress you unless you\'re looking for a bose at a sony price
- The speaker gets pretty loud while remaining clear but treble is weak. Battery lasts a long time and charges with regular micro USB plug. Grille cloth tends to get dirty easily and altho it\'s easy to wipe, it traps gunk inside. USB port is for charging external device only; you can\'t send digital audio via USB. The speaker will stay upright if positioned vertically but it doesn\'t seem really designed/stable for this. As with many Sony products I\'ve owned, some features will not be used much and are hard to enable, but the user manual (online, not available in PDF) is very thorough and clear if you want to explore them. Party lighting/strobe function is of no value to me and I disabled it right away to save battery. I hope Sony brings back the SRS-X55, or its style, which was a simply classic metallic box. This is the polar opposite.
