I can hear sound compression, I\'ve never heard it before even with similarly priced headphones, they\'re expensive but for the product, worth it.They\'re comfortable, durable as long as you don\'t stress test them under your tires, and come with a very high quality cord. My one complaint, if you can call it that, is that they don\'t come with a case, they come with an egg bag.
This will be a short review as I sent these back. However, I am still giving these a 4 star rating. They are not for me, but I imagine many, many people will really like using these. The detail that these headphones provide is really astounding. However, it is somewhat too detailed to really enjoy for relaxed listening. I imagine if you do monitoring or DJ work these might be really good for you. However, without a little bass boost, I found it hard to notice nearly enough bass in even the boomiest tracks I have. That lack of bass, I think, also means that mids and treble really stand out too much, actually sounding harsh and a little painful to my ears.However, comfort on these is fantastic and I cannot say enough about it. Like I said, these are not for me, but I think many people will really, really enjoy these.
Think of these headphones like they are precision measurement tools and they\'ll make perfect sense. They carry a huge emphasis in clarity, not bass, so boom boom beats fans oughta steer clear from these cans or you WILL be offended. These reproduce audio from source exactly how it would sound, beauty and garbage are transmitted in brutally honest fashion. My only complaint is that while wearing glasses the ear pads cannot provide a tight seal around my ears resulting in a slight drop with lower frequencies but angling the temples above the earpad cavity negates the problem altogether.
Headphones arrived much faster that expected, great because I was excited to begin using them. These are some of the finest headphones made, construction is near all metal and leather and they are solid with a stable but unnoticeable clamping pressure. I took them to a local audio store to audition a new DAC and the sales people were really impressed with the clarity, imaging and responsiveness of my Hi-X55 cans. I could not be happier with this purchase. I have now had them on for the past 6 hours and may listen for another 4 hours because they sound so good and are disappear as the sound stage unfolds. It is fantastic to rediscover my music collection, these cans are like a window into sound!
these headphones sound like listening through music through a tunnel. bass is lost almost completely and the mid range is overpowered. these are not for anyone who wants to enjoy listening to music they are for professionals who are trying to isolate specific things.
Sound quality is great for my use and it seems quite well balanced for mastering

These headphones have insanely good detail but a very strange sound profile.My main issue with them is that the headphone earpads started to disintegrate within a year -That is the fastest any headphones I have ever worn have broken down.I sit here with a stick, loose top band, and two earpads that are entirely destroyed, with the official replacements being expensive and hard to find. I suppose I HAVE to buy a third party replacement - for my 350$ headphones. That seems unreasonable for something meant to be used in a studio, where it would be on someone\'s head for a very significant amount of time. Basically unacceptable to me.
