  • I have not yet installed these on my Road King but that will happen this weekend. I assembled the system and tested it for sound quality and function. It is loud, has much more bass than any of the other free-mounted speaker systems (I know this because I have one of the other ones), and the speakers are significantly bigger than any thing else I have seen. I took the amplifier housing apart and actually looked at the circuit board inside. It is well made and is truly weather proof as the board is actually coated with a rubbery coating on both sides. there is also a fairly decent sized heat sink for the amplifier chip on the board. I compared this to the amplifier that is internal to my other pair (cheaper all in one unit) of 4 inch speakers and there is no comparison. The speakers may be 4 inches in size but the housings they are in are closer to 6 inches in diameter. They sound is superior to any other speaker is not mounted in a fairing or saddlebag. These things rock. Hardly any distortion at high volume either, and I use the EQ setting in my phone to tune that out. The only I don\'t like about this product is the clamps that come with it. They look cheap and ugly and I don\'t think I would trust them on the highway. It also takes two people to mount them as they are not easy to hold together while you try and snug the nut down while holding them in position with the rubber strips in the clamps. The wires from each speaker come out through middle of the hollow mounting bolt so you have to be careful about how you do it. This stud/bolt is about 1/2 inch or so in diameter, maybe a touch bigger. I purchased a set of highway peg mounts to use instead of the included mounts (I read other reviews talking about the clamps) but it appears that it would take a lot of drilling to enlarge the peg mount holes enough to accept the speaker mounting stud/bolt. You will also have to remove wires/pins from the plastic Molex connector in order to pull the wires back through the supplied mounts, nuts, and washers as it was assembled at the factory and you cannot take it all apart with doing so. I happened to find an old set of 1 1/4 inch clamps that came with some Harley Davidson brand highway pegs that are steel and will only require drilling out a small amount to fit the speakers. If it wasn\'t for the crappy clamps this would be a 5 start review. I am not going to mount the included volume control and will keep it tucked away with the amplifier behind a side cover. I will just adjust the volume on my phone instead of using it. I use a Satachi media button wireless controller to change tracks and adjust volume. All blue-tooth, no wires, works great. The wires that are included that run between the speakers and amplifier may be a little short for my application but I can cut and splice no problem. These are large speaker housings and you will need to play around with them to see where they will fit on your bike. These are nothing like the other 3 inch or 4 inch all-in-one systems that are much more common, remember that. Mine will have to go on my highway bar (crash bar) or on the outside of my 14 inch ape-hanger handle bars. Good luck!
  • Installed these on my bike the first week in May, so they\'ve been used for about 4 1/2 months. While the sound quality is decent for the price it has definitely declined over time, they are not nearly as loud or clear as when they were new.I installed the volume control in my right side cover along with a toggle switch to cut power when not in use. Just a though Boss, why not make that volume control knob a power switch as well...Although the bike is covered or garaged when I\'m not riding and polished every week or two I\'d noticed over the last few weeks the screw heads had started to show signs of surface rust, figured I\'d just hit em with a little black touch up paint to conceal and seal them but a couple days ago the chrome finish started bubbling and wrinkling and now flaking off.Very disappointed and although I had been recommending these to everyone for motorcycle and golf cart applications, I will unfortunately have to find a more suitable option.
  • The media could not be loaded.  Let’s start with this. I have a 2013 heritage softail classic with V&H straight shot with standard baffles. So my bike is loud. Not the loudest in town but it’s definitely a Harley... So I’ve ordered this twice now. Sent the first one back because it sucked. The second ones I got were AMAZING as you can tell from the video (half volume). So I’m thinking I got a dud the first time.Like others have said make sure to wire a kill switch to save your battery.Bluetooth connects fast and can go about 40-50 ft away from the bike. I dont have to re connect every time just simply flip the switch and it’s connected in 1-2 seconds.Audio is LOUD. Up to 70MPH I can hear PERFECTLY clear. Around 80 the wind drowns out the sound a little bit I can still hear it good enough. Yes the speakers are big and heavy but they produce good sound.Comparing the different speakers you can see the larger 4 inches system has a smaller frequency range. This is because they have better clarity and louder DB rating. What this translates into is louder clearer speakers with good midrange and decent hi range. However, there is pretty much no bass with these speakers. It’s good enough for country and classic rock but don’t expect to be thumping the block with rap. It’s justNot there... others who have the Harley speaker/ amp combo have asked me where I got these. My friends with the Electra glide and the ultra classic get their stereo drowned out by mine.I absolutely love it. I almost never even use the AUX cord.It aucks that it doesn’t have a radio but I have Spotify and Pandora so its okay. 350 miles and so far I LOVE these speakers. Best decision I ever made.Haven’t got them soaking wet yet but I have seen a few small showers and they haven’t been affected. Good product. Will buy again when these quit working. The boss audio MC720B is easily comparable to other systems in the $500 range.Don’t waste your money on something slightly better at 5 times the price. Buy these and crank the volume up. Use the money you saved for more gas to keep riding. :)
  • Time tells on most things but I will say after trying them in my shop on the bench, I definitely wasn\'t expecting them to be so loud! Decent sound too, do don\'t expect them to sound like you spent 3k, you bought 2 small speakers and a tiny amp. With all that said they totally shocked me in a great way!!! Can\'t wait to get in the wind and hear my music when I want and, turn them down to hear my, pretty much straight Cobra exhaust... Very impressed for the money I spent!!!Update! My return window closed a week ago and I just returned from a beach trip. While at the beach and on the way home I started hearing cracking and popping from the speakers. I was an audio installer and mechanic for over 20 years so I\'m confident in my install and can only come up faulty equipment from Boss? I tried to contact through Amazon and was taken thru the loop bank to the returns and go figure, 8 days too late. NOT happy!!!
