LSX Wireless Music System (Green, Pair))
- i did a lot of research trying to find the right pair of wireless speakers. Most of the reviews of these were excellent so I chose the KEF\'s. Maybe I was doing something wrong but to me the sound was mediocre at best. I tried all the settings to get the sound to change to my liking but I could not. There are all kinds of tweaks that you can do to change the sound, but I could not find any directions to show me what I was doing or what these changes were for. On top of that, when setting up room size and distance from a wall it was in centimeters. I could not find any setting to change it to feet or inches. I also thought the remote was useless. It is a black remote with dark red printed symbols. You can barely read them. If they were white against a black remote they might have been easier to see. I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile and I know what sounds good. These just did not sound like a $1000 pair of speakers. I prefer the sound of my apple homepod.
- I don\'t write a ton of reviews, but given the reviews for this product left me on the fence, I thought I\'d weigh in here to help folks decide.I\'d checked out reviews on several sites, including KEF\'s home site, in making my purchase decision, and to summarize, the reviews had two key takeaways: (1) Superb, possibly unrivaled sound quality, and (2) difficult setup and terrible app(s). Now, I\'m not shy about spending this sort of money on nice audio equipment, but I\'m not sure any amount of money can make up for wasting a few days of your life with a frustrating tech product, so the negative reviews were concerning. On the sounds quality, I view that as a bit subjective, however, I don\'t think anyone would say suggest the sound quality is anything but great. Are they THAT much better than some slightly cheaper competitors? I don\'t know, but I am very happy with my purchase. Its a rich, full soundstage, really good separation of the highs and mids, and surprisingly good bass for their size. The sound is a little less warm than I\'d like at lower volumes, but the more you push the volume, the more these shine. For context, I\'ve got Magnepan towers in our main room and Sonos 5\'s + Moves elsewhere, and I\'d place these in the middle of the two in terms of sound reproduction. On the app/setup, I will say I scratched my head a little bit in the process, but I found the full manual online and was able to use that to pretty easily get everything set up. Again, based on reading several comments, I chose to set-up the speakers on a wired connection first, and used that wired connection to download and install the firmware update to 5.1; then I factory reset the speaker using the pin on the back (this doesn\'t reset the firmware), and setup the wifi connection via the LSX Airplay option in the app -- where the iPhone handles the wifi handoff with zero effort. Its a bit puzzling that the app doesn\'t let you set up wifi once you\'re connected via wired connection, but in the end it wasn\'t a problem to perform the reset and re-setup via wifi. There are two apps, but functionally I don\'t really use either, so I don\'t see a huge downside. I can connect via Airplay or Spotify connect, both of which can control volume from my phone, so I see no need to use the apps. And I\'ve had no issues with dropouts, etc.Overall, I\'d say if you\'re the sort to spend this kind of money on audio equipment, you\'re getting what you pay for and you shouldn\'t be concerned about technical issues.
- Great speakers. On every level is exactly what I am looking for except 1. Will get to that.Sound quality, sound stage is fantastic! Very high quality sound and does make music sound good. Not over EQ but tad bit above neutral so you always get pleasant, warm, and nice sound out of your music, which ever kind you are listening.I am using this for computer and music listening and it is very very nice. Wide stage, clarity, and really nice dynamics.Only thing I wish for more is bit more lower end bass. Don\'t get me wrong, this does have bass, and quite good. Better than I expected. And from KEF\'s app, you can extend it to get more and you do feel the difference. Mid bass is quite good and strong. But you can still tell is from a smaller speaker. For me, I am quite close to the speakers so they are fine / great. Still might add a sub eventually, but that is the only thing that might of kept it from perfect. To me these are between 4-4.5 stars speakers. Tad bit over price but the fit and finish is fantastic. One other suggestion is since they are going to be used for computer for some people and they have many input options (which is great). I wish I don\'t have to manually switch between them and I can use it all at the same time - meaning like other powered speakers with multiple inputs, I can connect them to computer A, B, and C. And either one is playing something with sound and the speaker will just work with it, without the user having to switch the source input on the speaker manually. That is what you have to do now when many other solutions don\'t require that.[UPDATE 1/3/22]If I could return this speaker, I would do it in a heart beat ASAP. Over time, this speaker became useless. In the beginning, I mostly could get this speaker to connect to the KEF app, it is needed for essential control of the speaker and without using some of the EQ on the app, the speaker sounds flat and bass is even less. With it, much better. Even the default volume needs adjustment, without it, it has very low volume. Other things like sleep time period and many other small things. I also got a sub woofer recently and complimented well with the speaker, but needs the app to tune to make them sound right. Here is where it goes down hill. Over time, I get errors from the speaker connecting to the app more often. And I end up have to manually reset the speaker, try to reconnect to the app more often. It became weekly or after every few days. It started getting very annoying. I use these as my main computer speakers, not being able to start a meeting cause my speaker connection failed is just terrible. As time continues, even resetting stopped working. I can now no longer connect the speakers with the app so therefore I can no longer have basic control of the speakers. I don\'t have such problems with a normal $20 dollars bluetooth speaker.... let alone this 1200 dollars speakers.. WHAT A JOKE!Their customer service did try to help. He was nice. But couldn\'t help at the end. They say it doesn\'t support Mesh Router, which is also unacceptable imo. My 6years + devices that needs to connect to routers have no problem connecting. I also got it to work fine for a while, it just stop working over time. There has been so much time wasted resetting the speaker and reconfigure and reconnect with the app. I don\'t remember any recent hardware, 10 - 10,000 dollars that I had to spend this much time AND still not work in the past 15 years. I asked KEF I like to return this. This speaker is useless for me now. And they refuse to do it. Super unhappy with this and will not buy them again. Yes, KEF, you have been around for a long time in the audio business. Unfortunately, cheap $99 dollars speakers like Edifier actually makes their product more stable, convenient, and just works. I used Bose Acoustimass 3 for 25 years, only then it started making bit of noise but operation is flawless. Take a note from other manufacturers. In 2022, this type of product quirks is just Not Acceptable.
