  • I tried RF units with headphones that were just too bulky. I also tried the similar Sennheiser RS 5200 which caused pain in my ears due to its weight. With this unit I can use any earbuds or even earphones if I want and just keep the receiver in my pocket. I gave it 4 stars since there is a slight delay or echo when the tv speakers are on. You need to use noise cancelling earbuds or headphones so this won\'t be annoying.
  • I have recently moved into an apartment with an in-wall air conditioning unit that is very loud. I ordered this to be able to hear my TV while not disturbing my neighbors. It works very well. The receiver clips onto your shirt or pants so that looks silly but I\'m inside so no one will see it. There is volume control on the receiver (on top, it\'s rubber with an ever so slightly raised plus and minus - you can feel it but it\'s hard to see) but no mute button, although, you can use the mute button on your TV remote.Sennheiser is a very good, reputable brand. It doesn\'t come with headphones/earbuds but if you buy a good pair, the sound is excellent.The unit is easy to install and easy to unhook when you don\'t need to use it (just unplug one cable from your TV, then plug it back in when you want to use it again.The base unit is big and chunky (about l3\" W x 8\" L x 2\" D) but the cordless, rechargable receiver uses a magnet to hold it in place which seats it just right to charge it. The charge lasts at least all day for a good binge-watch session.
  • This is my second sennheiser 5000 and no, the first one is still working. Wanted this one on main tv and first is in my 96 year old bedroom. Only way I can watch tv with her in same room. She uses the aid device and I turn tv volume to what I have. She likes the 5000 wireless as she can keep her one hearing aid in and out an ear bud in the other ear to hear the tv. Great device. We use the toslink optical cable
  • The base device is the size of a large TV remote control. The wearable is about the size of two Bic lighters bound together. I use basic 8 mm wired headphones. It generally works well - good sound quality and zero latency from the actual TV speaker sound. My one complaint, which is rather annoying, is that the sound regularly drops out for a fraction of a second -- no more than one syllable at a time. But it happens often and unpredictably. I cannot attribute it to any sound profile -- volume, frequency, voice, music. It is random and tends to happen in spurts and then does not occur for some minutes. I find this model more comfortable than the full closed headphone studio monitor type also sold by Sennheisser both for the lightness of headphones and I can hear my partner speaking in the background. The one complaint is the audio dropouts. It is very annoying but just below the level where I would return them because they are better than nothing. I am however, looking for something more reliable.
  • Expensive product but well worth it. I bought 4 of these through the years. Transmission/Reception is great, no white noise, just clear sound from your TV (or any other audio emitting equipment). Comes with earphones that are good enough for private TV listening, but may be used with any type of earphones or headphones with a 1/4 inch standard plug! Rechargeable battery lasts many hours; just put it back in the cradle when done watching TV and it will recharge itself.The only point against it is that it does not have a MUTE button. So when commercials come on, you have to suffer thru them or lower the volume, then increase the volume again when your show comes back. Other than that, it\'s a great great product!
