Once the Manufacturers dropped the headphone jack it allowed consumers to pick the quality of the DAC/AMP. This is a great price/performance product. I own way better (and way worse) so I know.
Love being able to use my 80 ohm headphones with my phone and laptop with no drawbacks, this little guy has amazing output, if the short chord was just a little thicker to support the DAC then this would be 5 stars
Had an issue with my other DAC mini. Found a review on YouTube and saw this supports much higher audio quality. Gave it a shot and works as advertised. Now I can hear 192/24 streams and higher if I get an opportunity. So far it’s a solid piece of equipment. Works with the included adapter for my iPhone. Wish it had more status lights indicating like which bit/kHz is being streamed. It does sound a bit more neutral than the dragonfly red, but the audio loudness seems to match that of the dragonfly red. That’s a big issue cause my car won’t play through the standard iPhone mini plug adapter. It needs more juice to hear anything, and this does the job. Oh and it even went through the laundry by mistake and it still works as new.
Comparable dongle DAC\'s are more frequently mentioned-reviewed and also much more expensive ($100-290). An obscure review brought this to my attention. To my surprise, it markedly improved the fidelity of the sound coming out of a MacMini (M1 2020) and iPhone X using Sennheiser (Massdrop) HD 6XX headphones, deepening the bass but keeping it well damped and clarifying the midtowns and highs. Pre-purchase concern waa that it was designed and manufactured in China, however it uses the dual ESS tech third-generation ES9219C DAC chip. Anyway, the results are superb. Sound stage in broadened and the trebles are crisp. Cannot listen to any music now on the Sennheiser\'s without this DAC. On the iPhone, i used the apple lightening-USB A adapter > (generic) USB A-USB C female adapter > iBasso. The Lightening -USB C female adapters i bought from Amazon (made in China) did not work ($7 for 3, lost to the angels). A generic (Anker) USB A-USB C female adapter > iBasso plugged into a USB port off the MacMini worked fine.
This review will be shorter than others I\'ve posted.The DC05 feels very well built, I love the colorway, and it drives my headphones pretty well when I\'m on the go. It even provides enough for my Dan Clark Aeon Closed RT when I\'m at work, at least it\'s enough for me.Decoding Capabilities are what I\'d expect for an audiophile-marketed Dongle. Uses an App for \"hardware volume control\" on Android devices, but not on Windows, I think it just outputs full power. DC05 measures slightly worse than the DC03 and DC04 according to L7 Audio Lab, but it\'s still a fantastic Dongle for its price in my opinion, given the state of the market and lack of parts availability in July 2022.All in all, it\'s a solid unit and there hasn\'t been anything to really complain about.
Product stopped working after a week. Cable cover fell off after inserting and reinserting a few times.
I Purchased This iBasso DC05 Dongle D.A.C. To Use With My Motorola Moto Sylus 5G Phone Since The Sound Quality Compared To My LG V40 Phone (Which Has a Built-In Quad D.A.C.) Is Vastly Inferior. This Little Dongle D.A.C. Definitely Improves The Sound Quality Compared To Stock. I Rate The Sound Quality and Portability Exactly In The Middle When Compared To My HELM Audio Bolt (Smallest Form Factor), Fiio KA3 (Best Sounding). Overall I\'m Pleased With My Purchase and Would Recommend This Unit For anyone Looking For Improved Sound From Their Cellphone That Has USB-C and No Headphone Jack.
After the upgrade to a Galaxy S22 with no AUX port and a daily driver without bluetooth and only an AUX port, I needed to find an adapter. I believe I tried 2 other adapters from Amazon and the sound quality was crap or the volume was quiet. I went to Best Buy and bought an Apple adapter which was also had low volume. After a little internet and reddit searching I came up with this one and it effin rocks! Upscales volume without sacrificing sound quality.
