GRADO Reference Series RS1x Wired Open-Back Stereo Headphones
- I’ve had the sr80’s for over ten years, and until I purchased these, they were my favorites and go to Headphone’s over 4 other pair and brands. That’s changed with the RS2x ! The rich deep and crystal clear sound of the Maple Wood design and advanced drivers, copper purity and housing has made these Totally different in a better way.Upgrade or give them a try if new to Grado. You will not be disappointed.
- I had to send these back as there were two left ear speakers attached to the headpiece and the wiring was different inside one than the other. This made me think these were not actually from Grado. I ordered a pair direct from Grado and they were perfect. If you think you are saving money getting them here you might want to reconsider.
- Having had several pairs of Grados over the years for the last 25 or 30 years, & having read some stellar reviews, I\'m not disappointed. The build is still Grado, although the gimbals are metal instead of plastic, and the headband is actually a little bit padded & wrapped in very nice leather. The continuously swiveling ear cups combined with soldered-in-place wires is always an annoyance with Grados and you\'ll need to swivel them arround until you get the best combination of the wires hanging sort of straight, the yoke being mostly centered and flat to your chest, & the wires not looking all kinked.Comfort is good but not great. The foam as always does get a little scratchy after a while, but at least it doesn\'t cause too much heat buildup compared with most other options.Sound of course is pretty much what I expected. Grado at their best. No real fatigue from listening even at a volume level sufficient to mostly compete with my wife\'s t.v. watching. I do however use the equalizer as I do with other high end cans, although with less boosting of the low & high end then I normally use.One complaint is that one of the cups has a nice shine around the outside where the hemp mid section is, while the other one is very matte looking as if it hadn\'t been oiled or clear lacquered or whatever they did to make the other one pretty to look at. I might try to do something to clear coat or stain the plain looking one.The only other reason that I might not be completely wowed is that they do their job so well without really anything standing out, & I have some other great dynamic, planar, and in-ear headphones that already have me spoiled so it really takes a lot for a pair to really impress me.I don\'t know yet if I will end up keeping these or selling them but I\'m not disappointed with them at all sound-wise, only with the aforementioned quirks.
- Buy the best. It is worth it if you use them a lot. They are now (recently) available on the Amazon site.
- When this product was released, I was stoked to try it out. I had high hopes for it because, I really enjoyed the 60x, and the 325x. Both of those deliver on most of people would need, but this headphone is a BIG step up from those. When you feel it, the wood is smooth, the Cocobolo wood smells like it came out of a rain forest, and the rest feels very solid. However, these might not be a bid deal if they didn\'t sound the way that they do. For reference, I have around 15 hours on them as of this review, so they\'re not at their full potential yet. For the lows, they punch and and have such a rich tone. Compared to the 325, they sound more refined, and are more natural and soothing. The mids have a nice lush smooth sound, that works well for every genre. For the highs, there was a slight harshness on the 325, at the very top end, and that is since resolved. They are alot tamer, and are just \"there\", and never get harsh an any volume. The soundstage, thanks to the new redesigned 50mm driver, is more \"in front of you\", The sound is much bigger, and is more full bodied then the cheaper options. Overall, it\'s a huge improvement, that is without a doubt worth it. To the new design, build, and sound, these have my vote!
- simply the best
