Pioneer Rayz Rally Portable Speaker | Perfect in Skype, Business Conference Calls | Plug and Play | Compatible with iPhone 11 Pro Max X/XS Max/XR 8/iPad/Mac (Matte Black)
- This is the third Rayz I\'ve purchased in just the past few weeks. I began using one myself a few weeks ago and was so pleased with the sound quality and ease of use, I ordered one for my wife and another for my son. Both my wife and son spend a large part of their day on cell phones while at their desks, or in their cars. The Rayz easily turns our cell phones into high quality speaker phones with great sound quality. There is a stout pigtail connecting the phone and the Rayz which allows you to pick up the phone with the Rayz still attached and walk around without worrying about the cable breaking or pulling out of your phone. Being able to charge the phone at the same time by plugging your lightning cable into the bottom of the Rayz is also a great feature. My wife\'s Bluetooth connection for her phone in her car is unreliable and of poor quality. The Rayz easily solves the problem of hands-free calling while driving. She can toss it on her console or dashboard and off she goes.Only two minor dings on the Rayz: If you\'re thinking it will also be great for music, you might be a bit disappointed. Yes, you can play your music, but it\'s not stereo and is focused on improving the voice quality of your calls, both coming and going. Also, the App you download from the App Store is somewhat confusing because it shows a picture of a full-featured input panel including equalizer and other features. However, when I downloaded the app I wasted a bunch ontiime trying to find that panel of features. There\'s only a small tutorial that loads, but doesn\'t clarify anything. After an email to Pioneer, I found those features only apply to the Pioneer noise-canceling earphones. The app services both the Rayz and earphones, but it\'s frustrating trying to figure that out on your own. PIoneer was GREAT about contacting me and clarifying the issue. I also got the earphones which are also great by the way. My Bose earphones are wearing out, so the Pioneers have become my go-to.I will be happy to give 5 Stars once Pioneer cleans up the confusion with the App, which is still there as of yesterday.
- ***2/2019 UpdateI’m increasing my rating to 4 stars. Once I had the RAYZ app (that I had to learn about in the reviews) and changed the setting to huddle our group has been able to have several successful meetings. We had 3 in person and two calling in and we were all able to hear each other last week. I have an iPhone 6S and it was much better than the speaker phone.**12/03/18 UpdateAfter reading the reviews I found the app. I switched to Huddle and it seems better when I tested it with a speakerphone call. I’ll give it another try and update again.*12/02/18 OriginalPlug and play was simple. Sound quality and volume is good. However, the person calling into our meeting couldn’t understand us because the volume for the microphone was too quiet. We were sitting close to the device (about a foot and a half) and speaking loudly but the other end couldn’t hear us well enough to understand. He was holding his phone to his ear with his volume all the way up and it still didn’t help. We ended up unplugging the Rayz Rally and using speakerphone. Then he could hear us.I’ll try to contact the company and see if this is a defective product. If not I will get a refund.
- If your loved one has a hard time having a family chat due to hearing issues, this is your answer. We liked it so much our family now has 11 of them. Kids like it to stream music and not have to fuddle with a BT speaker and charging. My parents use it and it\'s loud enough that my dad can hear without holding the phone to his hearing aid. Seems to be durable. I also use it for nighttime \"white noise\" speaker with an app I have. Love this little thing & use it almost daily. The charging port at the bottom is great for use while plugged in. Great product
- 2nd chances are worth it: The pass through charging on my iPad works on the replacement Rayz sent to me! I’m going to test for the mic and conference speaker for both to work in Discord. More review to come.Previous review on 1st Rayz sent to me:The pass through charging didn’t work for my iPad, but did work for the iPhone. I use Discord app, and it didn’t work for Discord app on the iPad. I sent it back and hope the replacement works better with my iPad for pass through charging and Discord app. Hoping it was just a glitch.
- The product is pretty easy to use. Plug and play. Uses the phone battery or can charge \'through\'. The sound quality is pretty good (esp the mic pick up), though will not be enough to sub a Polycom system (not expected either). The form factor is better than the Jabra alternative I was considering (though I would\'ve like a less rigid chord connecting to the lightning port). I bought this primarily to use personal use or with my team in instances where we are client locations with no access to a conference phone.I am a bit disappointed, however, at how this performs at loud volumes (defo better than the tin can of my iPhone) - expected it to be better coming from Pioneer. From a value perspective, for $15 more you could get the Jabra 510 Bluetooth - which I could\'ve used with iPhone as well as for Skype calls on my computer.Overall, great buy if you want something light to expand your phone speakerphone capabilities for personal or small team use. Would\'ve rated higher if the price point was $50-ish.
