200W USB C Charger, Aergiatech Desktop 5-Port PD 100W Type C 65W PPS GaN Charger Fast Charging Station with LCD Display, Laptop Power Adapter for MacBook Pro/Air iPhone 14 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy
- Works as advertised. The LCD is a nice touch.
- This charger powers my Macbook Pro and my LG android phone simultaneously, with capacity to spare. It does not run overly hot and its form factor makes it ideal for a neat desk or travel.
- As I stated in a previous review. the problem with a lot of other chargers is that when you plug more than one device in them it reduces the power on all ports which, in turn, reduces the charging power each port outputs. So, it takes longer to charge them. That may or may not be a big deal to you, but it is to me. So, to resolve that, I picked up this 200w charger to be able to handle my MacBook Pro, my Pixel 7 Pro and other devices that I have laying around the house. But let\'s face it: I picked this up because of the fancy LCD screen! Yes, this charger has a LCD screen that lists the volts/amps/watts of EACH port! Not sure why we can\'t have something like this on other chargers - probably cost prohibitive - but it really is nice. Now I can see what each device is pulling at a glance! It also comes with a nice stand/cradle and a power cable. No actual USB cables are provided, though. The charger itself has a max capacity of 200w: 100w max (individually) on each of the three Type-C ports and 22.5w max (individually) on each of the two Type-A ports. The Type-C ports support all proprietary protocols INCLUDING PD (power delivery) while the Type-A ports support all proprietary protocols EXCEPT PD, which makes sense since PD is only supported by Type-C ports. See the pics above for further details. As far as the output of each port and their combinations here is a quick summary:1 Type-C Port: 100w2 Type-C Ports: 100w + 100w3 Type-C Ports: 100w + 65w + 30w1 Type-A Port: 22.5w3 Type-C Ports + 1 Type-A Port: 100w + 65w + 20w + 15wHowever, you can see my pics above of the back of the package for more details and the instruction manual provided with the charger also has a more in-depth matrix w/pictures for whatever combination of ports you are using.Anyways, as you can see in the pics above, I was able to trigger 20v test using the Qualcomm and PD protocols on the Type-C ports. These tests send a 20v request to the charger to see if it can supply it and it was able to do so without issue. Excellent!Having both a MacBook Pro and a Pixel 7 Pro plugged in did not slow down the charging speed at all for either device. My Pixel 7 Pro still said \"Charging Rapidly\" despite the MacBook Pro also being plugged in and charging. Remember, the device dictates what volts/amps/watts it needs so even though the Type-C ports can support up to a 100w request, my MacBook Pro requested 60w at first but then later boosted it to 86w (out of 87w maximum). So, in short, power hungry devices should use the Type-C ports while smaller devices like phones can use any ports. Also, the charger did not get hot. It was lukewarm to the touch, but even though I had my phone and my MacBook Pro connected to it it never got hot at all.I can\'t speak to longevity or durability as I have not had this charger long, but if anything changes regarding that I will update my review accordingly. As of now, everything about the charger is working as expected. This is one solid charger with a fantastic LCD display and I am extremely happy with it - but it does come at a hefty price. However, it is worth it, IMO.
- The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Aergiatech 5-Port (3x USB-C, 2x USB-A) charger with up to 200W of shared charging capacity (model PD-085PT). For me, the standout features are the integrated power meter that shows the status of each port and how each USB-C port individually supports up to 100W. The charger will allocate full power to any two USB-C ports, given that the other ports are not populated. The USB-C ports support USB Power Delivery\'s Programmable Power Supply (PPS) feature, enabling \"Super Fast Charging\" on compatible devices. The two USB-A ports support various fast charging protocols that allow higher-than-5V voltages, such as Qualcomm\'s QC 2.0/Samsung\'s AFC, but only for one device. Sadly, when both USB-A ports are populated, the charger falls back to standard 5V charging. Unfortunately, the USB-C ports also support proprietary charging methods such as QC 2.0/AFC, making this Aergiatech charger non-compliant with USB specifications. The heart of the issue is that while USB Power Delivery is an open standard, QC/AFC/SCP/etc. are proprietary technologies, so there\'s no guarantee that these different protocols can reliably coexist on the same connector at the same time.Overall, the Aergiatech 200W 5-Port charger is relatively compact but heavy, so while I would avoid traveling with it, it\'s ideal as a desktop charger. I\'m currently using it with a motorized standing desk, and I appreciate how it helps reduce the number of cables I need to run from the desk and the wall.In terms of behavior, since this is a shared-capacity charger, adding or removing a device can trigger some or all connected devices to reconnect as the charger recalculates and redistributes power. If you\'re running a USB-powered device from this charger, such as a portable monitor, this behavior can be problematic since it means your display can blip out for a second. I feel that this charger\'s \"happy place\" is up to three connected devices with either 3x USB-C or 2x USB-C and 1x USB-A since, beyond that, USB-C3 and the USB-A ports become limited. In contrast, an assured capacity charger provides a fixed amount of power on each port, so once charging starts, it won\'t be interrupted if you add or remove devices.I used the Aergiatech 5-Port (3x USB-C, 2x USB-A) charger for about a month before writing this review, and despite having some shortcomings, it\'s a good charging station. I contacted Aergiatech\'s support through Amazon\'s contact seller function since the first charger I received was defective (USB-C3\'s connector was not aligned with the cutout, essentially blocking the port), but they quickly responded and arranged for an immediate replacement. The replacement unit\'s USB-C3 port was still a little crooked, but it worked normally.Notes:1) I found a bug with the otherwise very excellent integrated power meter. When connected to a single device that supports QC/AFC, it shows both ports going to 9V. However, using a self-powered USB power meter, we can actually see the second unconnected port stays at a safe voltage.
- I\'m not sure what I expected when getting this charger. I needed a 6 port USB charger with at least 3 USB-C ports so I got this one. I didn\'t even realize it had the awesome LED screen. This thing is a BEAST! It\'s heavy (not in a bad) way and charges very quickly. I plugged in my MacBook, iPhone, Apple Watch and headphones and all charged at full speed. With the LED, I can see which of my chargers/cables/etc. aren\'t as good as others and weed them out. Hint: Apple\'s seem to be the best across the board. With all of that said, I do have one complaint and that\'s the value here. This thing costs twice as much as similar, competing ones. Other than that, though, this thing is super high quality and works well with more info that I expected when buying it.
- Pretty handy item if you have several usb c items. We have just the one MacBook that uses the usb c. All our other items have usb a.
