LanParte HHG-01 3-Axis Motorized Handheld Gimbal Active Stabilizer for GoPro iPhone 6S Plus Smartphones Video Cameras GoPro Clamp Included
- I purchased the Lanparte 3-Axis Gimble about a month ago, as well as the FeiYu Tech G4. But which one is better? Depends what you are looking to do with it. On the Lanparte I tried out several devices - GoPro 3+, Sony Xperia Z1, iPod Touch 1st gen, Sony Cybershot TX-66, Sony Cybershot TX-30. On the G4, only the GoPro 3+ is usable with my version.Big things I noticed:1. Compatibility with devices: The Lanparte came with 2 sizes of clamps for smart phones as well as the GoPro housing (please verify the one you are purchasing comes with the GoPro housing if you want that). The G4 that I bought is strictly for the GoPro with or without a backpac. (FeiYu does have on their website a new version of the G4 made for smartphones, it does seem like the bracket is interchangeable, but verify on your own since I see a picture on the website but didn\'t fully read it to verify)2. Performance: The Lanparte does a good job with lighter devices like an iPod Touch. The video coming from a 1st Gen iPod Touch was smooth and no issues at all. When I tried to use my Sony Xperia Z1 (not the compact version) which has a 5\" screen and is just slightly larger than the iPhone 6, the Lanparte seemed to be working extra hard and would occasionally get jumpy and then recover balanced. This may be due to not balancing it correctly, but I don\'t believe so. The G4 I have does not have the ability to secure any other device besides a GoPro.3. The Lanparte is great with smooth motions left, right, up, down, twisting side to side but has no toggle-fix button. The G4 wins this competition hands down as there is a toggle button with 3 modes: a. Pans around just like the Lanparte. b. Locks the camera viewing in a fixed position - like if you are pointing it at a face, push the button twice, then if you move up or down the camera will stay fixed on the person\'s face. c. Triple push of the button will turn the camera upside down. The function in the GoPro allows the recording to be switched to record in upside down mode, so the user can hold the entire device upside down. I tried it out, I could walk with my arms to my sides holding the G4 down and it record stable video from kneecap level while walking around.4. Battery life: I have not used either enough for the batteries to die to know how long they actually last, but both devices have their advantage. On the Lanparte, I really like the \"pistol grip\" and the battery clicks in solid like a mag in a gun, but the Lanparte only comes with one battery with additional ones available (I think) around $50. With the G4, it takes two batteries, but the package comes with 4 batteries and an external charger.5. Grip-comfort in hand: No complaints from either device. But the Lanparte pistol grip is really nice. The G4 is good too, but Lanparte wins this one. The G4 is more like a selfie-stick size with some grip made of all metal, like a pipe..6. Size. Overall, they are pretty close in size and hard to make an accurate comparison since one can only do GoPro and the other can do GoPro, Smartphones, and other cameras which can fit like a smartphone does. I used a Sony TX-66 and a Sony TX-30 but I still need to figure out how to make an adjustment so the buttons don\'t get pressed in the clamp. The main reason it is difficult to make that comparison is the Lanparte has an awkward L shape bracket counter weight to balance devices out. Whereas the G4 is already perfectly balanced for the GoPro, once the firmware updates are completed - see below!.7. Firmware updates: I am unaware of any firmware updates on the Lanparte. That one pretty much comes out of the nice case, ready to go. On the other hand, the G4 has a few firmware hurdles to jump before it\'s usable. And a HUGE issue with the G4 firmware updates - YOU MUST USE A WINDOWS COMPUTER!!! Mac\'s are not usable for the firmware upgrade. Let me repeat that, you MUST use WINDOWS. Sorry to yell, but if people read this, that is one part they should definitely read as my G4 was basically useless until I did the update.That\'s just off the top of my head thoughts on comparing the Lanparte and G4. Please let me know if you have questions or want other comparisons and I\'ll do my best to answer. I may also add to this as I discover more about each device.
- First of all this is very basic, but it simply works and works well. It has very few features but if you simply want a stabilizer at a low cost this is a good option. I bought an extra battery, but I wish I hadn\'t because I\'ve never had to use it. The included battery lasts me for hours if not the whole day of vacation type video, I\'m not sure how many hours of constant use but in guessing at least four hours. The build quality for the most part is okay, but I will say that the part that grasps your phone seems like it could be more robust. A tiny screw fell out of part of the gimbal from very little use and treated it very carefully too. I lost the screw so I\'m not sure if I can get another and use some locktite on it to resolve the issue.
- Great gimbal for iPhone camera stabilization. Well worth the money. I used to do steadicam on my dslr but I found the gear to be too heavy and cumbersome to connect and disconnect. Having the option of using an iPhone for steadicam shots greatly reduced my gear weight. The shots taken are a lot more stable than my previous shots. The only downside is the quality of iPhone shots are not anywhere near the quality of dslr shots. Nevertheless this is not a fault of this gimbal. It also comes with the adapter for GoPro but I haven\'t used that yet.The bag that comes with it is great from a storage point of view as it stores all of the accessories in tidy partitions. Unfortunately, once you put in all the balancing arms and weights, the gimbal no longer fits in the bag unless you dismantle it again. The bag then becomes useless for transport unless you don\'t mind setting up and dismantling every time you change location. I had to look for another camera bag to put the assembled device in for convenience. The gimbal works well even when you whip it around up and down, left and right between different subjects. Just don\'t over extend it up or down or it will reach a state when it goes haywire... Vibrating like crazy until you turn it off and reset. One thing to note. I noticed I had to make sure the gimbal was pointing center before I turn it on or else it will calibrate itself off center and you will have limited range in one side.Despite these minor flaws, I only deducted one star because the flaws are all cosmetic or negligible. I still recommend getting this for your iPhone or GoPro stabilized shots. If you want DSLR quality stabilization, then I don\'t think you should even look at this as you need a DSLR stabilizer instead
- So far so good. I’m giving it four stars because it doesn’t have some of the functionality that some other gimbals have, such as the ability to lock the gimbal into different orientations. Example, you’re filming and you want to do a sudden turn to film on your right or left, if you gimbal can be lock a forward possession, you could do sudden and faster turns if the circumstance required it. With the gimbal on and unlocked, the gimbal turns at it’s own study, smooth and slower speed. Also, filming with this gimbal upside down is impossible. So filming lower to the ground without actually getting on your knees can’t be done with this gimbal and even then, you can only get as low as the length of the gimbal grip allows. This gimbal is made for basic, straight forward, study and simple filming, no remote gimbal control. no controls on this gimbal for tilting up or down, left or right. Again, no locking it in to a position. The big positive of this gimbal other then the smooth and study video it allows you to record, is the variety of cell phones and GoPros you can use with it. It comes with three brackets, two for different size cell phones and one for the GoPro three plus to four black, two different size balancing weights and one battery all in a nifty semi rigid carrying case. Other then these small short comings, good gimbal for the price.
