- I really wanted to like this! Made in america, water resistant, hard case with storage!! All great but, it doesn’t get loud, at all. I got this for my teenage son for his birthday because it seemed indescribable and he can destroy some stuff! It may be indestructible but the main purpose, as a speaker is lacking a lot!! For the price i was expecting some noise can’t even hear it at full volume in the next room!! Too pricey to suck this bad.
- The media could not be loaded. Well....I was reluctant to spend this kind of dough on a speaker, but bit the proverbial bullet . I needed a speaker that was waterproof , could easily hold my phone and essentials on class 1-3 water as well as recreational. Got it on a friday ,fully charged it, and left for the water . I played it around the campsite for about 4-5 hours friday night , charged my phone and played it for about 5 hours on Saturday until the weather broke . Then, my wife took it on a 4 hour kayak ride while I stayed at camp. My wife came back with 2 leds still lit, about 25% or so. Charged a friends iphone for about 30 minutes , and then played some more music for about 2 hrs. Decided to charge it a little while a friend broke out his guitar. Come Sunday afternoon , i turned it back on for smoked pizzas in the backyard after charging my phone on the 1 hr ride home and its showing 3 leds or, more than 50%. All in all, for a camp/travel speaker , I honestly do not think you can get any better . A 1300 pelican case is 60$, 2 8ohm rubber/waterproof drivers are 20-30$ , a class d bluetooth amp board is 20-40$, good 18650 batteries are a couple of bucks a piece but you really need a good spot welder for electronics to do it correctly (100-200$) . Then , you\'ll have to make foolproof cuts, wire it ,and make your own custom bass hole. Add it up. Sound , I\'ll give it 4 stars , loud enough for 15 at camp with no issue , but you\'ll be able to carry on a conversation so long as your not standing right beside it. No issues with bluetooth connectivity popping , bass is excellent without the bass port plugged in, and still good with it in. Treble is fine as well . Played rock, rap, and country on it . No issues so far . Just wished it was a hair louder , but I like to jam! Battery life, I dont even know how they do it. Their amp board must pull virtually no amps. Storage capacity , 5 stars . Plenty of room for 2 phones , car keys , wallet , and a sandwich.I attached a little video of the speaker playing with charging cables inside it .Update: 07/09/2019Took it to the jobsite with me today as a lunchbox . Never failed , started at 7am with 3 leds lit(I suppose a bit over 50%) and it had two by the time we shutdown for lunch (lunch was at 1230 or so) on full volume . Couldnt hear much when were running skid steer, but the speaker was over 20 ft away and the skidder was right beside us. So, this speaks now fulfilled my wants as a work speaker as well!
- If you consider the application this is built for, it’s great. For sound quality, I’d take my Bose speaker over it anytime. This has faint crackle and pops, but when outdoors you’ll likely not notice. I’ve found the Bluetooth connection finicky and annoyingly I often have to make my phone forget the previous version of the Bluetooth connection, restart the Demerbox and pair my phone to it over again. When connecting it to my iPad to watch a movie, I’ll notice a lag in the sound by about 1/2 a second compared to the picture, though I’ve noticed that pausing and waiting a short time, this will go away mostly. And the biggest drawback? It is very overpriced! (Fortunately I got it on a little bit of a sale)So why do I still like it? The battery life is amazing, and absolutely perfect for what this is built for. I honestly wanted to hate it at first because of the price and the sound quality, but after camping with it and using it for 3 full days and also using it to charge my phone fully, I still had 3 of the 5 LED lights illuminated which indicates the battery life. Also, it is plenty loud enough to enjoy outside, which I can’t say too many portable speakers do well (my Bose soundlink also does great for volume). Taking this on extended camping trips and using it while floating down the river so everyone can have a little music and it keeps the important stuff dry is definitely a win.I’ve still not seen anyone else with one of these, so I haven’t yet been able to link up multiple Demerbox to one phone and test that feature, but it’s a very interesting concept if works well. Now I have the larger 2 speaker version, so my review is based on that. Can’t speak for the battery and volume of the smaller.I have to also add that I was disappointed that it doesn’t come with the compartments inside the case that you often see it having in the pictures. I knew it wasn’t supposed to come with it and that you have to buy that elsewhere, but again, for the price point of this thing I really think that could have been included.
