Moondrop KATO Earphone DLC Composite Diaphragm Advanced Ultra Linear Technology Dynamic in-Ear Earplug Mirror Silver
- Make sure this fits by entering your model number.
- The excellent frequency response curve enables KATO to have a rare ability to highly restore the sound heard by the master when making recordings. KATO is able to more truly show the original timbre and position of musical instruments and vocals compared with ordinary \"HiFi earphones\", and bring you a more open and natural listening experience.
- KATO adopts modernist aesthetic design combining light and shadow, and continues this design elements from Kanas to KXXS. Thanks to the brand-new MIM technology, The almost all sufaces of KATO has been able to inject light and shadow design, showing a three-dimensional and rich layering.
- KATO is adopted with a new independently developed 10mm ULT (Ultra-Linear-Technology) super-linear dynamic driver, which has been developed for two years. It includes a more efficient composite magnetic circuit with internal and external magnets and a more linear air circulation structure, as well as a larger brass internal acoustic cavity, a lighter extra-fine imported CCAW sound coil and a high-frequency phase waveguide.
- KATO adopts a replaceable sound nozzle design, which can be easily replaced by a quick-release structure with screw thread, and comes with sound nozzles made of two different materials (steel and brass). Users can not only experience the sound changes for different materials by replacing the nozzle, but also replace the blocked sound nozzle more conveniently.
- KATO is equipped with the newly self-designed and developed Spring Tips, which suppress weak resonance through special diffusion structure, and significantly lower the high-frequency linear distortion caused by nozzel resonance, thus making high-frequency timbre more natural. At the same time, the special material of earplug tips cap can better fit the ear canal without being sticky, and featured with the special reinforcing rib support design to prevent the bass loss caused by sound leakage.

Moondrop KATO Earphone DLC Composite Diaphragm Advanced Ultra Linear Technology Dynamic in-Ear Earplug Mirror Silver
- I recently was introduced to the world of IEMs after I bought a set of Sennheiser IE 100 pros in search of good portable audio. Whether it\'s listening to music, watching movies, or gaming, headphones weren\'t cutting it for me anymore. After an hour or two of use, they\'d leave me with a sore head and rings around my ears where the cans sat.My Sennheisers were great, but I slowly started to realize how murky the audio really sounded, especially when listening to music. I spent hours messing with an EQ just to get them sounding mediocre. This wasn\'t worth it, it was time for an upgrade. The Kato IEMs are amazing, my Sennheiser\'s dont even come close in sound quality. The reviews that caught my eye here were the ones talking about how big of a soundstage these things have. I can confirm, it\'s very unexpected. I switched the nozzles from the stainless to brass, it definitely creates a fuller sound. I should also note that I use these with no custom EQ, these sound amazing right out of the box. Audio quality wise, these are 10/10. In this price range, there isn\'t many IEMs that can compete. As for comfort, that\'s a little tricky. These come with Moondrop\'s custom silicon tips in L/M/S + generic foam tips in the same sizes. I finally decided that the L silicon tips were the best for me, my left ear would spit everything else out. The eartip definitely has an effect on the sound quality here and I found that the silicon allows the Katos sound the best, likely from a better seal. I\'m going to try a couple different Spinfit eartips and see if those will help create a more secure seal
- A bit large and heavy. Not a great custom fit, but good enough. Sound quality is good and enjoyable. My son said it seem to lack good bass comparatively to his Logi Pros. A bit overpriced for a single driver. Nice build quality and packaging. Quarks fit me better and are under $15, and provide a very good audio experience for non snobs.
- So, here\'s the thing, I wouldn\'t consider myself a hardcore audiophile, but as a person who enjoys the technical aspects of life, including music. I took the recommendation of a YouTuber on these as being good for the price point and I must say they are great! I find that listening to master\'s on Tidal is so cool and find that listening to Lossless and Doby Atoms on Apple Music is great as well. I personally, delineate my two streaming services based on those two differences. You can feel the music and it\'s very clear. I will say, the components, source and output are important. For this review I\'ve been using:iPhone 11 ProApple DongleThe Kato\'s in blueTidal MastersApple Music with Lossless and Dolby AtmosNew Setup:Astell and Kern SP3000The Katos in blueTidal MastersApple Music with Lossless and Dolby AtmosI\'d recommend these in general. My only gripe (lost one star) with them is the silicone tips hurt my ears. I like foam for the noise isolation, personally. In general, the sound is pretty much the same between the two, but for my ears the foam sounds better most likely due to a better seal.
- Amazed by how good the imaging and sound stage is for an IEM. It easily rivals various Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic headphones I\'ve had over the years. The build and quality are top notch and definitely seem worth the price tag. I mainly use them for music and a very hardcore sound-based FPS, Hunt Showdown. Hunt Showdown is very good at exposing poor stage stage on audiophile devices, but these held up to the test with flying colors.
- In this class of <$200 in-ear monitors, which are essentially premium earphones, a common battle is between the IKKO OH10 and the Moondrop Kato. First, for those who are not familiar with in-ear monitors or IEM, these tend to focus on audio-quality over other things so for example, neither the OH10 or Kato have microphones built in, using that space for audio quality instead. As for the comparison between the OH10 and the Kato, both are really great IEM which do far better for music listening than your typically ear buds, even significantly better than Airpod Pros. These are far bigger than your typically ear bud with no battery. In addition, both are more modular with swappable 3.5mm jack cables. Now onto the comparison, I do not like the OH10 but that does not mean that they are terrible/inferior, only a matter of taste. If you love bass, the OH10 is much better than the Kato, they are thumpy and rivals that of over the ear headphones. But compared to the Kato, I feel they lack the clarity and crispness at highs and mids (think vocals and violins). In addition, the OH10 are heavier than the Kato which might discomfort some people. They also have really thin and rough 3.5mm cable that gets easily tangled up. I think it took me 10 min to untangle it when I unpacked them.In short, get the OH10 if you listen to rap and bass-heavy rock. Kato if you like musicals and instrumental songs.
- This is my first IEM in maybe 8 years. If sound is the only priority, these hang with more expensive headphones. For that I\'ll rate this 5 stars. However I\'ll be returning.I guess this review has to do more with IEMs in general. My right ear canal is very abnormal and never fits any size pads except for the airpods design. This is no different with the Kato with all provided earpads, it keeps falling out of place every few minutes and I have to readjust to get the correct sealing. It\'s a bit heavy compared to airpods pro and becomes painful during extended use - the pain stays hours after use. Some people may build a tolerance over time. Also I can\'t help but notice the wires touching the back of my ears. Then when I use a mobile DAC on my iPhone Pro Max, while walking around the weight of that setup pulls the IEM downwards and out of my ears.
