- Wow ! , I was a skeptic that a single device could ever provide room filling sounds and now I am a believer. The quality of sound this device produces is incredible. How does such a compact device produce such amount of sound ?I own a $5,000 9:2 home theater setup which now sees less use thanks to this device. This device makes listening to music enjoyable plus there is no distortion at the top of the volume.I\'ve thrown Thin-lizzy \'s jailbreak album Jailbreak , Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here , Procupine trees\'s In Absentia , Mobb deep\'s classic album Infamous and Strauss\'s \'voices of spring\' from Strauss: The Best of Vienna at this device and the music has never sounded so good. Listening to a live recording reproduces the atmosphere and with your eyes closed you can be transported to the venue.This device does not have Bluetooth and I use the \' Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter for Bluetooth Audio Devices (980-000540) with my android phone. To manipulate the sound from my cell phone or tablet I use the android app \'Equalizer\' by Smart Android Apps, this allows me to fine tune the sound. Sound from the iPhone or Ipad is also excellent.If you are throwing a party, want to setup a \'clean\' home music system or hear your music like it was recorded at the studio this is all you need.The \'Monster/Dr Dre\' partnership no longer exists and this device is destined to become a classic. If you are an investor sell a few shares, purchase this device, store it for a few years and sell it back for a profit - it\'s that good. - 5 Stars, even though this discontinued device lacks some modern conveniences.PROS: Incredibly powerful sound for indoors and outdoors. I first came across this Beatbox while staying in a vacation home that relied on in to provide music for the property. I didn\'t expect much, but was floored when we plugged it in and turned it on. The Beatbox sounds as good as the Beats by Dre STUDIO series headphones, but (obviously) much much louder. It completely saturated the backyard and pool area with clear, deep music. It has a handle molded into its frame to allow for easy transporting, which is important because the speaker is not as light as you would hope for it to be. I guess that\'s the cost of having speakers that produce such rich, powerful bass.CONS: I\'m giving it 5 Stars based on the way it performs for the technology it utilizes, despite its limitations. (The Beatbox was made during the time where the Ipod 4s was popular.) The Beatbox does not come Bluetooth-ready, which is easily remedied by purchasing a good bluetooth receiver that you can stick in the auxiliary input, such as the MPOW one I purchased. Also, it must be plugged into a power outlet to operate,which is much more limiting than the cordless bluetooth players that are available today. Lastly, it has an ipod deck that can be operated with the included remote, but will not recognize an iPhone 5 or newer, which is fine because you can use an auxiliary cord to connect any device with a headphone outlet.I guess you can call the Beatbox outdated with respect to what conveniences are available in other speakers today (which would explained why it is discontinued), but I honestly don\'t think you can find another speaker of this size that can produce music like the Beatbox does. I bought this speaker in 2014, despite it having been discontinued for some time, because of how impessed I was.
- As a music lover, I have to say that this is a great product. BUT the Beatbox isn\'t meant for all kinds of music. As the name implies, music with beats, bass and drums will sound superb. If all you listen to is classical jazz or violin instrumental, then this isn\'t right for you. Great for hip hop, R&B, pop, reggae and reggaeton.This one box replaces and entire music system. I\'ve had several parties and my guests are in awe that all that sound is coming from one box in the corner. It really turns my apartment into a club. And that\'s exactly what I was looking for.One downside is that I can\'t charge my phone and play music through the AUX insert at the same time. If you want to charge your phone, then the playlist must be playing from your phone as well. The price is hefty but It comparable to other systems with out all the cords and pieces to deal with.
- Two things (pro/con)(pro) First off this speaker really does sound great. I make music in my spare time and I wanted a quality speaker but something simple and mobile because I don\'t work in a regular studio, usually where ever I sit that is my throne! I chose the Dre Beat Box.(con) I bought it in March of 2013 and I\'m sending it back to the manufacture ( 1 yr warranty) this week ( January 2014). It just stop working ( no power going to box). Thinking maybe it was the power cord, I switch it with a my Laptop power cord which is a working cord and no go.I used the beat box power cord with my laptop and the cord worked fine. Something enternal failed. This was on moderate use and nice clean enviroments I never used it outside only in doors. Prior to my purchase the dre beatbox, I used computer speakers with a sub woofer paid 60 bucks and lasted well over 4 years (heavy use indoor and outdoor). If I pay 400 bucks I\'m assumming it\'s going to last a few years. The rating is a 2/3 stars I liked the sound, the sound was fantastic but i should not have to send it back before a year of use. So far the warranty process is going smooth. I talked to a rep and they assisted me very well. There\'s step you have to do but fairly easy. The warranty is for a year and sounds like there going to honor it. Will update review if anything changes.
