UClear Motion 6 - Single
- I\'ve now had the Motion 6\'s for about 2-3 years. The sound is best of anything I\'ve tried, and I\'ve had the top of the line Cardo and Scala units, and they just don\'t compare. I listen to podcasts and audiobooks, rarely music. Even at highway speeds (or in excess of highway speeds) on an unfaired bike, I can still hear the words clearly. I use a full face helmet with foam ear plugs. If I were I just rating the sound quality, they would be an easy 5 stars.HOWEVER, everything else about these is lousy. They are cheaply made, prone to breaking, the attachment point to the helmet is sketchy, and the USB-C that the earphones attach to is quite finicky, and battery life isn\'t great.I\'m on my third set of headphones, because the point where they attach to the unit keeps working its way loose, to the point that I need to constantly mess with it to hear sound out of both speakers. And this set is doing the same thing. Unfortunately it both charges and connects to the headphones in the same port. This means no charging while listening, and it means frequent plugging/unplugging at a known fail point.I\'ve had problems with the unit overheating while charging on several occasions. The last time it happened the housing around the USB-C port actually melted a bit. This happened out of warranty. One of the two large buttons has worked itself loose, so it is no longer waterproof, so no riding with this in the rain any longer.I was lucky to get six hours out of the batteries when it was new. Now four if I\'m lucky. Meh. And as I mentioned before, no charging while listening. Not great for long trips. The controls are also clunky and not intuitive. Fortunately all I ever do is listen to audiobooks and answer calls, all on loudest volume, so I don\'t need many controls. All of these cons aside, this is still the best unit on the market right now due to the incredible sound quality/volume. Even though I think it\'s a bit of a cheaply made unit with tons of problems, I\'d still buy it again. Mine is on its last leg, and I\'m holding out buying another unit hoping they will redesign this unit and fix the many deficiencies while keeping the sound quality high.
- Overall happy, installed this on my Icon Air flight helmet, had to use my right angle die grinder with a small sanding disk to add depth to the speaker mount areas as they were painful on my ear,Other then that the unit is nice long battery life but the sound quality isn’t to high not sure what to really expect for a speaker like this, I can have a conversation up to 35mph then it gets hard to hear but that is also helmet dependent I’m sure
- This is an awesome device although it takes a while to get a handle on the motion gestures. Volume down is difficult to to master and you\'ll blow your ears out till you figure it out. Using the manual buttons to do that causes it to make a lot of crazy beeps as it\'s trying to figure out if you are gesturing or pushing a button. It will occasionally pause the music if it detects something swipe the range of the sensor. For those that have recessed speaker pockets in their helmet, the mounting sponges are too thick and will cause the speaker to scrape your ear as you try to put your helmet on. I recently purchased 1 1/2\" Velcro dots which you can stack up to get the speaker right where you want them. No more raw ears. Here\'s a link to the product I purchased. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DD7PSBQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
- Everything about this product is great, with one exception. The USB connection from the speakers to the helmet receiver is terrible. I had to cut off material from the male end to get the plug to properly seat into the port on the receiver. This is the SAME issue I had with a previous generation of this product.
- Used a single for a year and enjoy it for music. Volume a bit low when on phone mode. I’m told the mic is excellent. Recently purchased another for my son who is a new rider. Invaluable for teaching. Bike to bike quality is decent. Some interference from school buses.
- Right out of the box it was missing the charging cable. I do have another one of these units so I used that charger to charge this unit. It never charged and would not turn on.
- Batteries are junk and don\'t handle cold temps at all . Group switching brands .
- Bought a Uclear Motion 6 helmet communicator from MX Gear. Installed per manufacturer instructions. The product would not fit correctly without hurting my ears which is a common problem. Product returned in original packaging and was charged a $92 restock fee on a $214 order. Left a message and did not get a response. Also, the manufacturer will give the vendor full credit on a return so there\'s no reason for MX Gear to charge this huge restock fee. Don\'t buy anything you may have to return.
