Avantone Pro Planar Headphones Open-back Headphones - Red
- Not sure if it\'s just my headphones but there doesn\'t seem to be any way to adjust these headphones, which is a huge disappointment. They were great the first few months of using them but there\'s a little flimsy piece of plastic that holds the cord in place which makes the headphones fit snugly. If you look at the headphone image on Amazon, you\'ll see what I mean and how it looks different from the photo I\'ve attached. I\'m not hard on my headphones. I have several pairs of headphones and this is the first time anything\'s snapped loose on any of them. Anyway, the little flimsy plastic piece holding the band in place just snapped as it was putting the headphones on and now they don\'t sit on my head properly. If you have a huge head, this won\'t be a problem for you. But for the rest of us with average sized heads, unless you\'re willing to use some duct tape or something to secure the piece, you\'ll wind up as frustrated as I am.
- Amazing piece of art between planar magnetic headphonesThis is my 5 planar cans and they worth every single pennyI highly recommend this great product
- These headphones are a truly flat and neutral sounding headphone. I use the AVANTONE Planars for Sound Design, Mixing, and Mastering my own tracks in Ableton. These headphones will not lie, just like Shakira\'s hips. The sound coming from them allows for a blank slate of sonic enhancements to be created. You will be able to experience each tracks individuality, and hear almost every detail of the mix. They are quite comfortable around the ears for long sessions. Sometimes I forget I even have them on. They sit well around my head, and don\'t feel as heavy as they look. I cannot think of one bad thing about these headphones. All frequencies are represented well across the audio spectrum. Bass is not enhanced like most other headphones, but it can still be felt in the soundstage. Highs are not too bright, in fact, I\'d say the low mid to high mid is where this headphone sits. The open back allows for a great soundstage. The 4d Mixing space is well represented in these badboys. Overall, a great headphone for those looking to have a palate for Sound Design and Mixing (for me electronic) music. I also have ADAM Audio T8Vs, and often switch back and forth between the two in order to check the mix. Usually, I am shocked at how well things sound after using just the headphones. They translate well.
- Reluctantly ordered these headphones (from another vendor) thinking I would probably return them after a few days. These are absolute keepers if you intend to use them in your studio for mixing and mastering. I have a pair of Beyer DT1990 that I also use for mixing and the Avantones are definitely less ear fatiguing (without the huge bump the Beyers have around 10k) but offering a terrific sense of clarity, depth and space of every element on a recording. I bought these as I needed a second pair of heaphones in my studio. Tried the Focal Elegia which I returned as the soundstage is way to wide, mids a bit too frontal and lows are lacking in speed and transient attack. Overall, Too mellow. I also ordered and returned a pair of Audeze LCD-2; the Audeze are nice and they offer similar characteristics to the Avantones, but the lower mids are too accentuated. I simply did not have the patience to try and \"learn\" the Audeze\'s \"sound\". Out of the box, the Avantones sounded great! Mids are more present than on the Beyers, but overall is a very honest sound, less \"bumped up\" in the mids than the Audeze. The image of the Avantones is a bit narrow but that is absolutely perfect for long mixing and mastering sessions. Lows are super fast and clear, with lots of transient attack. Highs are not screaming at your but are cristal clear. Absolutely beautiful! I find myself using more the Avantones than the Beyers (!) and they are definitely closer in sound to my studio monitors: a pair of Neumann KH310. For folk, jazz and classical (which is what i work with) these headphones are stellar. very highly recommended!
- These headphones are actually a true flat neutral headphone across all the frequencies. Great Bass extension. They are bit heavy but comfortable, the pads are good. My main negative is that these are muddy, when I go to listen to a headphone such as the sundara or a $1,000 and up range such as LcdX and come back to the Avantone the separation and depth is not there, sorry. I wanted to like them. The Hifiman Sundaras are superior in all aspects to these, miles ahead. The sundaras are just bit above neutral/slightly bright than the Avantone. The sundaras can also be used for studio production. For a $400 dollar headphone they are average, you may as well stick with your sennheisers 660s or 600. I can not recommend the Avantone, unless you don\'t have a studio headphone at all and your want an entry planar for studio use. For casual listening stick with hifimans 400, 500, X,XS they are more for fun.
- Check out the web site, see if they will repair.
- Sound is amazing and the Build quality is 5 star. They are a bit heavy and bulky, but yet I really don’t notice when wearing them. Very pleased with them.
