  • It is sad that this type of earbud is mistakenly perceived to have low sound quality so there is not a lot of popularity behind them compared to IEMs and full sized headphones, but within the enthusiast circle, these are well known as legendary earbuds that perform well for the price. With many pairs of open back headphones in all kinds of price range, I finally decided to upgrade my earbuds as well and I can attest to how good these are when properly used.Putting foam on these are annoying due to their shape, but it is required. The sound without any foams or with thin foams are clear but completely thin and lacking any bass section. The upper mids also feel recessed, with the treble taking the stage. With a decently thick foam, the sound becomes more full bodied and it helps bring in some warmth and emphasis on the vocals. With the treble focus, even with a thicker foam, these reveal plenty of details for the price and sound very open, while never being sibilant, just smooth, detailed treble. They are quite fast as well, even complicated and congested sections of songs do not get mixed and muddled up, each instrument can be heard clearly and the separation is very impressive. They aren\'t perfect of course, the sub-bass and even mid-bass isn\'t great, which is something shared among all flat/earbud form factor so I would not recommend it for bass heads. They aren\'t as revealing as my Stax or HD800, but they easily compete with open back headphones in the same price range, including some of the best mid-fi pairs. The sound signature reminds me the most of my ATH-AD2000. Combine that with the convenience of the form factor and increased comfort of not having to deal with full sized headphones, I\'d use these any day over any mid-fi pair. The stock foams included are not great, I\'d recommend a third party like the foams from Venture Electronics\' Ex Pack (their thicker variety is perfect on these). I\'ve tried the HIeGI foams and although these are more comfortable, they take away some sparkle on these, so I do not really recommend it, but if you can\'t stand the VE foams, you can use these I guess. Or, you can put silicone rings over the foams to help with fit as well. Whatever you do, don\'t use them naked/without any foams. By the way, there is an indicator for left and right channel that is not as obvious as it is unique to Moondrop; the stem with the groove is the left channel. The cable is high quality litz that is loosely braided so that it is not that stiff and wire memory isn\'t a problem. There are no microphonics on the cable which is great. Overall, if you\'re looking for an open sound in a smaller form factor that can be easily driven, I highly recommend these.
  • At first, I didn\'t think I was going to like them because of how heavy they seem to be, the overly long stem, and the non-replaceable cable. None of that mattered after I put them into my ears. They have the finest tuning I have heard with one caveat. The bass quantity is VERY low in level. It IS there and is VERY good, but you must EQ it up if you listen to anything but classical, or voice (anything that has no bass). Once you add some bass, they become some of the best all-rounders I have heard. They are the most detailed and airy, while remaining smooth, that I have heard. They give me goosebumps; they are that good IMO. Your mileage may vary, but if you give them an honest chance by listening to them (exclusively) for a week or so, you will NOT regret getting these! After getting into my ears I realized that they really aren\'t that heavy, and the super long stems don\'t get in the way at all.
