I tried this at radio shack and i just recently bought it at a steal for $84.00 (compared to some of the people who bought it for $200.00, i sympathize with you because i feel this is definitely NOT worth $200.00). This definitely works better than the portable speaker i bought for $50.00 at Best buy (the jamz DHX). Although the Jamz DHX speaker worked well, it wasn\'t water proof, the speaker would go hay-wire after just a few uses. Especially if you are looking to play loud music. I was disappointed afterwards, so I decided to upgrade!This little bundle of sound is great for conventions, playing music with your friends, and even if you are using it for personal home usage, it\'s got a great quality for sound! I wouldn\'t advise playing this super loud, because you may blow out the speaker. Also it depends on the **Custom Sound** feature you have on your phone. I have the brand new samsung galaxy NOTE EDGE, and I have it customized to sound great with my headphones, but not this speaker, therefore i need to adjust the settings for better quality on this speaker. SO i advise you do the same on yours so you don\'t ruin it!!! I also am a tech enthusiast. I noticed when i was at radio shack that there were a few other choices of speakers that had similar sound to this and to Bose.Such as auvio, and Dr. dre\'s beats. (the speaker not the headphones),But let me tell you, nothing beats the mini bose speaker. A co-worker of mine, use to bring his to work during the summer, and we all would listen to pandora. It has better quality than the deck. However this is not to say the deck is entirely outclassed. It\'s simply not sophisticated enough.Pro\'s : This definitely has an amazing sound as to how compact and small it is. I wouldn\'t advice putting this in your pocket or in an area where there are multiple things around, incase it gets damaged.Con\'s: I would have liked to have gotten the bose mini speaker. but beggers can\'t be choosers when you are on a budget.
Haven\'t run out of battery on me yet, I use it a few hours a day and charge it every other or third day. The sound is loud and clear, with a little distortion at the highest volume with bass heavy music. Heist mode is fun and works well. Outdoor mode is a great idea, reducing bass to increase volume and range.As for criticisms, it could be louder... But I\'ve been happy so far. Did well at an indoor party with 8 people. The real test will be how it holds up outdoors with a dozen people at a tailgate party. When hooked up via an aux cable to my surround sound with the deck muted, it will occasionally unmute itself when there\'s an interruption to music, like the Xbox music app closing. The moto button will not skip songs when I use the Xbox music app on the iPhone 6, although this is also the case with my built-in controls in my car. I can\'t speak to the built in music app.All in all, works well with my iPhone 6, although I feel the iPhone 6 isn\'t the best experience (an android phone likely works flawlessly). It doesn\'t make me wish I had an android phone because this thing is great with my iPhone too. At this price, for this quality, there\'s nothing better anywhere. I wonder if the bigger deck would be much louder or better, but I really think this is the best option for the money.
I while I do like this speaker now I own it, there are a few things I need to point out. There are pros and cons in the list.1. Ease of use: once it is FULLY set up, it seems to function well.2. Set up was HORRIBLE. I had to have help and I am a computer geek. My phone had a VERY hard time syncing to it every time it turned on. I have an iPhone 6 so it isn\'t old technology. Now that it is officially paired, its fantastic though.3. The dock TALKS to you in a VERY loud voice. This is personal preference but I would prefer something more subtle.4. I have yet to have the controls on the device do what is promised. I use my phone. That isn\'t a preference but it works for me.5. The sound is not fantastic. Its great for listening to while sitting or not making any noise. ANY background noise interferes.6. Text messages or any phone alert changes the sound of the dock. For instance, I receive a text and then the sound level has dropped significantly until I receive another notification on my phone. This is annoying but something I can deal with in the long run.I will update as I find more things I like/dislike.
I own a pair of the Sol Republic headphones & when I saw this wireless box I had to get it because the sound quality is amazing in the headphones, but the speaker is so much better than amazing!!! : ) It has an indoor & an outdoor setting so the music you play will be louder/softer. You can skip a track using the speaker instead of using your phone or tablet which is great! It even has a setting where multiple people can take turns using multiple devices & play music instead of just one person! : ) The sound quality is sooooo much better than the Beats pill thingy to me...and I love me some Beats but Sol Rep has the best sound, best setting, best everything by a long shot! If you get this box, you will NOT be disappointed!! This thing is awesome on top of awesome!!! : )
