Jabra BIZ 2400 USB UC Duo Corded Headset for Softphone and Mobile Phone

  • I\'ve had this for about a week.Sound quality is excellent for phone calls (I\'ve been using it with google voice and a zoiper softphone with voip.ms service). Both for listening- and others have told me my voice comes across very clearly. I have a fairly quiet home office- so can\'t really say how it performs in a noisy environment. Sound is not so great if you are using it for music- kind of tinny. I find myself toggling back and forth between speaker phones & headphones.Build quality seems very good as well. Definitely looks/feels like a high end headset.I\'ve also used it with a cell phone via bluetooth- that works well too, and was easy to setup. Some additional tips for anyone who does buy this- hopefully it\'ll save you some time/ headaches:+ I don\'t remember the exact install sequence I went through for the software- but I ended up with multiple softphone drivers installed, and running active in the background. You need to go into the Jabra software settings, and both stop the services, as well as configure the individual drivers to not load on startup.+ I let the Jabra software automatically check for updates weekly. Two days ago- it notified me there was new firmware available- with some trepidation, I decided to go ahead and update the firmware. Unfortunately- the udpate locked up halfway through it. I tried all kinds of things to get it to work again. I followed the troubleshooting in the documentation (no paper docs- only with the included mini-dvd or by clicking help within the software). Jabra support website was unhelpful. Also couldn\'t find a phone # to call- so submitted a support inquiry online (its been 48 hrs- still no confirm they even received it....). I was getting ready to box it up & return it to Amazon, but tried one last thing. I moved my USB connection from the front of the PC, to the back. That fixed it. To be fair- the troubleshooting did say not to update the firmware through a USB hub- but I didn\'t really think that applied to the USB ports on the front of my PC.+ One other tip- this applies to USB headsets generally (this is the first one I\'ve had): you can\'t simultaneously use the desktop speakers and headset. The sound/mic is routed to the default audio source for windows. At least on Vista, anyway. A workaround to make it easy to toggle: go into your control panel, right click on the \"sound\" icon, and create a shortcut. Put the shortcut on your desktop. Now you\'ll have fairly quick access to changing audio source. As I mentioned above- I find myself preferring speakers when not on a phone call...Now let\'s just hope this one lasts. I\'ve had all kinds of headsets for phones, including some pretty expensive ones from plantronics: they never seem to last me longer than 9-12 months before the sound quality starts degrading... Also hope I don\'t need any support from Jabra in the future- there doesn\'t really appear to be any.Update after using daily for 1 month:+ I stopped using the bluetooth/cell feature (not that important to me anyway)- the sound quality wasn\'t as good as talking directly on my cell phone. Also- if I was on an active voip call, and a cell call came in, my voip call would be automatically muted while the cell was ringing. I could see no way to inactivate this.+ The desktop speaker vs. headset thing (see review above) has turned out not to be an issue with the zoiper softphone client. I was able to configure it so that I no longer need to toggle back and forth. Sound is only routed to the headset for phone calls.+ Overall- satisfied with the purchase, since it meets my main objective of high quality audio for voip calls.
  • I\'ve been on a years-long quest to find the perfect headset for working from home, although my situation is analogous in many ways to office use. My wife and I work remotely for the same company, and spend anywhere from 2-6 hours a day on the phone for internal (coworkers) and external (customers) voice/video calls. We also sit in the same room, where cross-talk can be an issue. On top of that, I constantly jump from mobile phone calls to computer-based calls (Lync, Webex, etc), and managing headsets across both platforms was inconvenient. What I was looking for was a single solution that I could use across both platforms without any re-cabling or re-pairing. I have tried many (many, many) solutions, and none of them worked satisfactorily...until this one.First and foremost, this is a USB headset that plugs into my Windows 7 64-bit laptop, and it works flawlessly with Lync, Webex, etc. The mic is unidirectional, meaning that it only \'listens\' on the side that closest to your mouth, and it appears to pick up sounds on the back-side of the mic as well and use those to cancel out background noise. For the first time, ever, my wife and I can both be on calls simultaneously, talk in normal voices, and not bleed over into each others calls. It\'s fantastic.Secondly, the audio quality from the speakers is excellent, and is so clear that I end up talking in a quieter voice, if that makes any sense. You see, I have a habit that if what I\'m *hearing* isn\'t clear, I end up talking louder instinctively to be sure I\'m not also being heard unclearly. My wife says that now I stay quiet on calls, and it\'s happening without me even thinking about it.Third, and this part was a surprise to me, when you have this unit plugged into your computer via USB such that it has power, it is then also available as a bluetooth headset! I strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest Jabra software for this headset, as it makes pairing and control of the bluetooth functionality very simple. So, now, I have a single headset that I can grab for any call. It cancels out background noise flawlessly. The audio I hear is so clear that I end up talking in a more normal level of loudness. And it works with both my computer and mobile phone automatically. No product is perfect, but after many years and many wasted dollars, I finally have a headset that does just what I need. We also got one for my wife, and she loves hers as well. Highly, highly recommended.
  • I\'ve been using this for the past few months while on conference calls at work. Even though this is targeted at LYNC users it can be used for just about any VoIP application. The control puck is a little annoying at times. I think I would have preferred to just have a longer cable. I ended up using Velcro to secure the puck to the underside of my desk (near my computer) so it would stay out of my way. I guess some users may find it useful but these things drive me nuts.Love the fact that this headset is firmware upgradeable. I compared this headset to a simple Plantronics headset and the audio quality is pretty striking. The noise-cancelling is subtle but it really does eliminate the background noise. (It removes the white noise from typical conversations. It will NOT remove background TV audio, for example.)The boom microphone is really nice and very long. It\'s definitely the longest microphone I\'ve used on a headset. It doesn\'t show in the picture but the headset does come with a microphone windsock to help with certain noises.It\'s a little pricey but the headset quality is first-rate. Each ear piece swivels which is handy but I wish there was some way to \"lock\" them down as they can get a little \"too free\" especially when taking them off and on a lot.If you are making a lot of calls on the computer then this is worthwhile investment.
