- UPDATE:It\'s been a few months. I just had to remove the endcap again, to hit the reset button because the display and secondary port were not functioning. This is the second time. I think it happens when it dies completely. It\'s only happened twice. Once while initially testing, and again after having let it completely die. Which is rare. The display seems to die AFTER connecting it to charge from 0%. It still charged under these conditions, and the main usb-c port functions. The second one won\'t until you reset. Which requires tools to remove the endcap and expose the reset button.I also just upped my review by two stars to 4. I\'m keeping a star since they solicited my review originally and I loath marketing and snail mail.Truth is, I use this thing. It works well. Charging at 100w is no joke, and the heat sink functions well in this device. Overall, it\'s the best battery bank I own. It\'s my goto around the house, or to test cables, And I\'d travel with it. I\'ve grown to appreciate very much. No clue if the company is any good, and right now I\'d not put any faith in them at all. But the battery bank is quite good IMO.-------------It was expensive. The percentage is really hard to read. I like the outputs and charging speed. I don’t like the single button long presses. Or the wasted screen real estate. My screen stopped working today. It’s still charging because my charger shows 90w flowing in. I don’t trust the design. This feels like a software bug, and I’d rather have something that works. I’ve completely depleted it around 3 times in 20 days. Each time I was a little paranoid it was just going to die, based on other peoples reviews. I’m glad mine died while still within the return window.I was also solicited to film a review for a $50 refund.Meh, other reviews say the company isn’t responsive for support. Perhaps marketing should run support, because they snail mailed me unsolicited with their refund offer. I don’t appreciate that. If your product is good, it should speak for itself. If it can cost $50 less, then why did I pay 199?The screen was working but after being connected to an iPad, at some point it turned off and never turned back on. Hitting the button does nothing. Long pressing for 10 or 30 seconds does nothing. I hooked it up to a charger…. It is charging fine according to my charger. It charges fine also.Other cons, Powering off the device takes 7 presses of the button, including two long presses. It’s just kind of a mess. I wish there was a physical off switch because from the looks of it this thing needs to be reset or some thing. But I wasn’t looking for a Hobby. I was just looking for a decent battery charger with decent stats. In hindsight this thing was incredibly expensive for what it is. Meanwhile my other USB-c battery bank has been in my truck for seven months and is at 99% still :). It’s not as fast, it’s not as large, but I don’t question that it’s going to function.I decided to open it up. The screws are crazy fine, and there is no lock tight. I held down the reset button and yeah it cleared the bug.I went looking for other battery banks of the same or smaller size, and with two USB-C ports… Honestly the best thing I found was still $150 and didn’t specify the type of cells it was using. At the end of the day I couldn’t find an equivalent battery bank. At least with this one I can view the build quality of the board, I know that heat is decently transferred to the end caps, and if it gets wonky again I guess I’ll just open it up and try to fix it.So yeah it’s Jenkee, but the other battery bank I viewed only charged at 45 watts, it was rated to charge 100 W. This one legit charges at 90 watts. To me that’s the most important thing. When I forget to charge it I don’t wanna be waiting around more than I have to.I don’t know maybe I’ll upload a video and get 50 bucks off since they solicited me to do so. But I sure didn’t like that they sent it to me.Will this thing last? I’m feeling like it won’t lol but I think I’m just gonna keep it anyway. I have no idea why they didn’t drill hole so you can hit the reset button with a paper clip. Seems like common practice to me.… Maybe I’ll drill that hole seeing how I doubt I’ll ever get warranty support with this company.
- This power bank is probably the best one I own.2 usb c - c1 is in/out and 56w both directions. C2 is 34w out.Usb A out is standard 18w.I’ve pushed this thing to it’s max on iPad/laptop charging in tandem and saw 89w out which is untouchable by my similarly sized other banks.Display is seriously cool and basically doubles as a usb meter. The entire thing is housed in a smoky polycarbonate with aluminum end caps and internal frame. Mine is powered by Samsung 32e 18650 cells. Which are a solid high cap option. 3200mah per cell X 8 cells X 3v ea = 76800mwh…prob some overhead for display and controller. It’s not waterproof, but that’s not why I bought it. The capacity, display, output, size, and sheer looks are. My only wish is that they made a bigger version with maybe 12 X 21700 cells. Your friends will be jealous of this thing.
- The media could not be loaded. See the video for the Storm2 in use. Following is a transcript:Here’s a review of the Shargeek Storm 2 power bank. I picked this up because I wanted a power bank with USB type C and raw DC power output. I’ve been really happy with it. You can see it has a clear polycarbonate case that looks great. The circuit board is nicely done, they’ve got this gray and yellow theme which comes together nicely.Ports on the side are DC in or out, a USB type C that can be used for charging or output, and USB type A and C that are output only. They’re marked but the labels are pretty small.Of course the main thing you notice is the OLED display. It’s small but packs in a lot of information. If you have sharp eyes you’ll love this display. If you don’t—like me—you’ll need your glasses. It’s small. You’ll see icons across the top when you plug in devices. The bottom left shows input power and output power in watts. It also shows voltage and current but I challenge anybody to read those numbers without a magnifying glass. On the right side the display shows battery charge remaining at the top, which is totally unreadable but the color will change when it gets low. Then you have total cell voltage, cell current, and two temperatures which I believe are the circuit board and cell temps, and finally a timer showing how long power has been drawn from the batteries.I’ll walk you through the menus. Long press to get into the menu, short press to move between items. First is the DC power output—I’ll come back to that. Next is the cell voltages and cycle count. Next you can change the temperature display. You can reset the timer on the main display. More display settings. You can force it to power off here. Or exit the menu.I skipped past the DC output which goes to the barrel jack. Let’s look at that now. You need to turn on the DC output in the menu. When I do that it brings up a warning which says to not try charging from the DC jack when the output is on. Long press to continue. The first two menu items increase and decrease in whole volts. The two below increase and decrease in tenths of a volt. It’s hard to see from the tiny display, but the DC output makes this power bank really useful for powering electronics projects. That’s part of why I selected this one. If you don’t need the DC output, you might want to look at their smaller model which just has USB output.I’ll show you here the Storm 2 powering a Pinecil soldering iron using the USB type C output. The iron has no problem drawing the current it needs from the power bank. This has proved wonderfully useful for my various projects. Finally, here’s a DC load on the barrel jack. I have the voltage set to 20 volts out, and my little load box here will draw 1.5 amps, or 30 watts total. The power bank does that no problem. One thing I discovered, however, is that the barrel jack is 5.5 by 2.5 millimeters and most of my barrel plugs are for a 2.1 millimeter center pin, not 2.5. This is pretty annoying. For this test I have a 2.5 to 2.1 adapter on the power bank.Overall I’m really happy with the Storm 2. It’s wonderful for the kind of projects I have around the house, and it lets me work wherever I want without having to find an electrical outlet. Please don’t tell my wife I’m soldering at the kitchen table again.Downsides are it’s a little big and heavy for travel. I might pick up their smaller model for that. And I do wish the display was a little bigger, as it can be hard to read. Still, five stars, I’m glad I bought this.
- I recently purchased this portable charger and I am extremely impressed with its performance. The charging speed is impressive and I can charge my phone multiple times before needing to recharge the portable charger itself. Additionally, the battery life is long-lasting and provides peace of mind knowing that I won\'t run out of power when I need it the most. The charging ports are also versatile and can accommodate different devices, which is a huge plus. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend this portable charger to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient power source.
